STAND ALONE NARRATIVE

Good Day Stella and bvs.

I work in one of the financial houses in the North. There's this elderly man that owns a shop on the street to my house. Each time I see him he reminds me of my late dad so I drew closer to him.

The man so likes me as a daughter becos I can speak Hausa very well and I'm respectful according to him. Sometimes I dash him money for recharge cards though he initially refused but I told him to see it as a daughter doing the least for her father.

The man is well to do, he owns houses around and he's a neat man but not educated. During Salah he gives me meat and all.

 One day I was coming back from work and I stopped to greet him as usual and he told me he'll like to have a talk with me.so I told him no problem, I'll stop by on my way to work. my mind had started telling me maybe this old baba wants to start making advances and I was already planning how to put him in his place.

 The next morning I stopped as promised and After exchanging pleasantries, he asked me to sit down and I did. He told me that he wants to help me as a father, that I have what the Hausas call farin jini, like a likeable spirit and he wants to give me something that will make the farin jini in me manifest positively in my life. That he'll give me something I'll rub on my forehead that anybody I want a favour from will do it for me once I've eye contact with the person. That the oil does not work for everyone except people that have the farin jini.

I asked him how he got to know I've it, he said he knows cos he spirit told him. That among all his 6 daughters is only one that has the farin jini and today she's married to a prominent guy which I'm aware of. So I reluctantly collected the oil and dropped it in my bag, in my mind I wasn't going to use it.


So after some months, one day there was an announcement that our md will be visiting our branch, Stella this man na Buhari brother, very strict and hard to please. So that day I remembered that oil and something told me to try it and see if it works.

 I took and rub an invisible portion on my forehead and off to office. I even forgot about what I rubbed as we all were busy with preparations for the almighty visit. Then he came with his entourage and we were summoned in for introduction. I quickly dropped glasses so I can have eye contact.

when it got to my turn, oga held my gaze a little longer and I was scared. Then after the meeting, oga asked them to call me, everyone was feeling sorry for me, I started crying, had to go to the toilet and wash my face. My colleagues thought that was the end of world for me. 

When I finally entered to see him, after the normal "hope you are enjoying your time here" etc he gave me his direct lines and took mine. said I should call whenever i need anything. 

Stella that's how my bread was buttered. 

Today I'm the head of my branch and every good thing that comes with it. He called me last and said he wants to establish me in something outside my career that I should think and tell him what I want. I'm thinking of Estate or how do you see it?.

*Hmmmmm my mouth is hanging loose right now but all i can say is that you should go and ask this old man the side effects of this thing oh, not that later now you will say you did not know...How many times have you used it again after the first time?
