INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD

A friend came visiting with her adorable baby and we got talking about motherhood and parenting. Our gist was really interesting till we started talking about parenting styles.

We had completely different opinions about parenting. Totally opposite, for example I don’t believe in giving a baby who is not six months old water, how much more filling a new born with water all the time till she vomits.

I lean towards the gentle parenting approach and she believes in beating the devil out of a child. We literally had no middle ground, the former me would have tried my best to explain why my approach is better ( so I think). But this time I didn’t argue and tried my best to listen and just chip in things here and there.

I have learnt that nothing is set in stone, there is no simple approach to this parenting journey. It is unique to the individual ( there are general principles though), the woman sitting right in front of me was obviously so in love with her child and would do everything to give her the best in life.

You need to see the glow in her eyes when she was talking about her baby’s milestones, pure unadulterated mother’s love was all I saw. Her methods might be totally different from mine and that doesn’t mean she is wrong. It has obviously been working for her and I admire that she is an intentional parent.

I really enjoyed our conversation and hope we meet more often.

Those with aggressive parenting style should take it easy please!

  1. I was talking to my parents earlier today, and apparently, the flood disaster in Bayelsa, is worse than we read in the news. Kids can't go to school. There's mass shortage of basic food items, and where available, very expensive! Several homes are submerged in water and people have had to bring out their mattresses to sleep on roads. The picture they painted today, is truly dire and critical. πŸ₯Ί
This flooding ish seems to be worse this year. Kogi, Anambra and Rivers States, are also in bad shape right now because of flood. God, na your hand we dey. πŸ™

    6. I think learning how to ride a bicycle is the hardest;mehnn I still have a scar on my knee and elbow from heavy falling yearssss back when I was learning..

After learning and was extremely good,I migrated to my late GrandMa bike(ladies bike) without anyone teaching me,stole the keys one morning at the village and zoomed offπŸ˜€πŸ˜,she saw me outside her farm and was shouting “Aboyyyy,Aboyyy bia ebea” but I zoomed eehhπŸ˜€πŸ˜€..

After that I moved to powerbike and finally a car(Automatic)..

No one taught me anything;just observation to know which was gear, brake and ThrottleπŸ˜€πŸ˜€;handling the steering wasn’t even an issue for me because I too suffer for bicycle and bike so was used to the control, only difference was that it was now a four wheel..

  9. You can’t make this stuff up!

Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets.

I asked for a half dozen nuggets.

'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the teenager at the counter.

    'You don't?' I replied.

'We only have six, nine, or twelve,' was the reply.

'So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?'

    'That's right.'

So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets

    (Unbelievable but sadly true...)
(Must have been the same one I asked for sweetener, and she said they didn't have any, only Splenda and sugar.)

I was checking out at the local Wal-Mart with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those 'dividers' that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed.

After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the 'divider', looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it.

Not finding the bar code, she said to me, 'Do you know how much this is?'

I said to her 'I've changed my mind; I don't think I'll buy that today.'

She said 'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left.

She had no clue to what had just happened.
( But the lady behind me had a big smirk on her face as I left)

A woman at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly.

When I inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM 'thingy.'

    (Keep shuddering!!)

I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. 'Do you need some help?' I asked. She replied, 'I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?'

'Hmmm, I don't know. Do you have an alarm, too?' I asked.

'No, just this remote thingy,' she answered, handing it and the car keys to me.

As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, 'Why don't you drive over there and
check about the batteries. It's a long walk....'

PLEASE just lay down before you hurt yourself !!!

Several years ago, we had an Intern who was none too swift. One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said, 'I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?' 'Just use paper from the photocopier', the secretary told her. With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five 'blank' copies.

A mother calls 911 very worried asking the dispatcher if she needs to take her kid to the emergency room, the kid had eaten ants. The dispatcher tells her to give the kid some Benadryl and he should be fine, the mother says, 'I just gave him some ant killer......'

Dispatcher: 'Rush him in to emergency right away'

Life is tough. It's even tougher if you're St%pid!!!!

Someone had to remind me, so I'm reminding you too.

So my browsing phone fell inside water while I was reading yesterday's chronicle last night. I had just finished eating hot eba and I sat on the floor there reading, I didn't know I was dozing already, that was how phone fell from my hands into the water that I used to wash my hands.
The nonsense sleep flew outta the window, I was so scared, I thought that was the end of my phone. I had tears already welling up in my eyes as I wiped it with a napkin, phone that I refused to sell and use the money to buy food when hunger nearly finished us last month, just so I can keep being online to avoid depression?
Mum told me to relax. I didn't know how I slept. Early this morning I ran to the phone repairer's place, I waited outside his shop till he resumed. He collected it, uncoupled it and used his instruments to clean it, did one or two things and boom! My phone was up again. I couldn't hide my joy, asked him how much, he said I should bring 5k, haa! πŸ™† ontop that small thing that you just did? At last, he agreed to collect 4k. I didn't even have the 4k. I had to borrow from my neighbor. God bless Mama Chinwe. I pray that God performs a miracle so I can repay her before the whole neighborhood hear that I borrowed money from her. I hate embarrassment.
I can't imagine not being on SDK blog for a whole day, kai! I would be so sad.

So my husband and I attend different churches. I attend Redeem here and he attends one kain boring English Anglican Church sha but when we have programs in our church, I invite him and he almost always attends those programs.

Last Sunday was our women convention plus since he was coming we decided to use the opportunity to dedicate the car in my church. (Yes oh, nothing like communal prayers for some things)

Testimony time, I jumped up and went outside. Well, I had given testimonies previously of the wonderful things God has been doing but this particular Sunday, I was going to use the opportunity of my husband’s presence to dedicate it to him.

So I thanked God for giving me such a great husband who had given me nothing but peace, joy and love in almost 3 years of marriage. Honestly, my husband being a kinda reserved person, I thought he’d be kinda embarrassed or something but I glanced at him and my beautiful man was grinning from ear to ear. Ha! I said Toh.

As I type this, I still see that look on his face and it was that of immense satisfaction and I am just so pleased with myself.

Twelve injections, one in each arm six times a year. Zero pill missed, zero resistance, 100% viral suppression. The battle against HIV gets better every day.

Stem cell transplant is curative as well. Even a tree after it is cut down has hope at the scent of water. Stay hopeful and positive as your result.

I love your approach,I didn't give my children water till they were six months old,I will go with gentle parenting,I know of a woman whose children refused to come to Nigeria because of her over strict upbringing she gave them, when she clocked 75,they refused to come,6 of them are just in London here oooh, they would rather send money, the gist was that when their father was alive, whenever the mum is coming from outside and they hear hear voice, they will all run to their rooms even though they were playing with their father in the living room,I think gentle parenting is not that bad and one should not be too strict either

I'm strict when they disobeyed o, tender/soft - that I can play like them, behave like them mostly sef. God bless mothers

Stella ndo, you will overcome it.

  46. I think one shouldn't be too hard or too soft when parenting. It should be a bit of the two and everyone opinion and decision on how to train his/her child should be respected.

Poster with the positive status. Take good care of yourself, you'll be strong

  52. I'm at a small cafe trying to use their computer, since mine packed up. They have just one for customers and one man has been on it since I came. It's been over 2 hours and he is just typing out a mail that's not up to 500 words. He is punching the keys once every 20 seconds. I wonder when he will be done today.
