Delta State,Kogi State: is battling the same flood disaster as the River Niger and River Benue keeps overflowing their banks.
I think the Federal government is overwhelmed as well,where will the relief start from?
Please reach out to individuals whose lives have been overturned,send anything you can and if your country home is empty, give it up for now so they can have where to lay their heads pending when the water flows back.
No schooling, no movement so they're being relocated by NGOs.
Our Villa is filled up already and it doesn't seem like we've done anything.

ReplyDeleteEveryone going to abuja should avoid lokoja road oo, my people traveling are stranded since 2 days now, no road,they'll be coming back to Lagos today,without getting to their destination,thank God the groom took flight,none of his family could make it down,even the best man. I heard people of that town are passing through a lot, lokoja used to be an expensive town,now the flood is making it more expensive as foodstuffs can not enter, tankers cannot bring fuel too.I pity them.

ReplyDeleteYesterday chronicle poster reminded me of myself in those years.
I was living and working in Ikeja Lagos while single, hubby too was working in Ikeja but lived in Ikorodu. His company gave the workers who were interested in staff quarters some flats in their mini estate in Ikorodu. I loved him and thought Ikorodu to Ikeja was not a big deal. His own Ikorodu was the interior part where we have new building site.
After marriage, I moved to Ikorodu. That was when I knew I had entered wahala. I would wake up very early to prepare for work and still get there late due to traffic. I started waking up earlier, 4:00 am, leave home 5:30 so that I can beat the traffic,I started getting to work around 7:am, work starts 8:am. I would close from work 5:pm and get home 8:pm or later sometimes. To cook or do something tangible before sleep would be stressful.
Few weeks into this, I became very sick, I was pregnant.
Nausea and vomiting started. I would park my car and vomit while driving to work in the morning, I became so thin, doctor advised that I quit the job for the sake of my health and baby.
I was sad. I hate sitting in the house. Online business was not common those days and I could not open a shop due to my sick condition, I won't be regular, it won't grow. The area was so dry, oh God.
I stayed home until I delivered my baby. Then hubby's company folded up, they were owing banks. The banks took over the mini estate and gave us three months to move out.
He was searching for another job while I nursed my baby who was just two months old.
I could have gone into farming like poultry and the rest cos there was land everywhere but I am not cut out for that. I get easily disgusted and irritated by smell and you know animals. In short, business did not just cut it for me in that area.
Then hubby got another job in Ikeja. Omo, we gathered all our savings and even sold some of our properties in the house to rent a mini flat in Ikeja. We went there with our two cars, clothes and few kitchen utensils all packed in the cars. We took that decision cos of cost of moving properties and we needed cash to pay house rent and you know Ikeja houses.
We sold one of the cars when we got there and used the money to buy properties again cos we didn't even have a mattress.
That was how our story changed cos I also got another job in that same Ikeja. Today, ten years later,we live in our own house, doing well with our kids. I remember those years and laugh.
So poster, since your case is different, being another state entirely, if you love your husband, talk to him about relocating to a tush area close to Agbor if there is none in Agbor, where you will get people close to your social class. Join a big church there if you are a Christian, put your child in a big school if you have a child. The above will enable you to meet people and make new friends, it will enable you to market your business to the right people too. Also join market groups on Facebook and join their WhatsApp groups in your State. There are rich and classy people online too, both buyers and sellers. I wish you the best.
