Nigerian Author Chimamanda Adichie Reportedly Rejects National Honor From Nigerian Govt..

Award-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who was recently decorated with Harvard University’s iconic W.E.B. Du Bois Medal, reportedly rejected the conferment of national honour awarded her.
Her team has come out to affirm that she rejected it but did not state any solid reason for doing so.....

*Sigh*
I guess she did it because she is not happy with the way things are in Nigeria and it is a wrong time to be conferring awards...

Beyoncé sample from her book and now she thinks she is the best thing that has ever happened to Nigeria? Give me a break!!! Can’t stand these people being awarded for being mediocre but paid the best handler and PR that sells them to the world

  9. You are a Nigerian.

You accept a foreign award but reject an award from your own country. LMAO.

It is not Baba Buhari acknowledging you o, it is the NATION acknowledging you for your efforts whatever they may be.

I'm sure 99% of the people on that list, Buhari has never heard of. How some of them got on that list is beyond me but let me not digress...

The only tenable reason for rejection is if one feels undeserving of the award or if one believes the caliber of fellow recipients are of dubious character.

Any other thing is some form of virtue signalling.

    2. Recognition given in the time of Buhari is not worth accepting. There are different ways we can protest against bad governance and she made the right choice for herself and her conscience.

    3. Lmao. You just open mouth waaa dey talk OP. People boycott awards to show and state displeasure in things. Oscars we’re boycotted that year by majority of artists because blacks felt sidelined. Some alabosi still went to collect awards sha. No shame.
Many Indians boycotted their NFA awards cos they felt rejected by their president.
British people reject knighthood from time to time.
      Try dey read

    6. You're not serious,. Nigeria at its present state is a failed state, who wants a failed state recognising her? No be contamination be that one..

That's how you guys are saying Teni disrespected Nigeria and not the president, the president has already disrespected the country,. What she did is actually giving the country respect, at least people would know not everyone is a sycophants and hypocrite over here..

Now these are the kind of girls have some regards for..
      Go girls✌️

    7. It is silly to call Nigeria a failed state. 100% of the Igbos here are campaigning for Obi to the president of Nigeria. Is it not irrational to be expecting somebody from your ethnic nationality to be the president of a failed state. Pathetic

    8. Oga Alex..

Who told you I'm from Obi's ethnic nationality? The problem with you old folks is that your ethnic bigotry has beclouded most of you sense of reasoning, and it's these same toxic traits y'all wna pass to the younger generation, but we have been refusing to buy into it, at least most of us that have sense.

Nigeria remains a failed state presently and the reason we're supporting Obi, yes "WE- of diverse ethnicity" is because he represents hope, the hope of changing the status from its present state, which is this failed state.

To think you're supporting APC's Agbado master is what's really Pathetic.. I'd have said you should be ashamed of yourself but I don't insult elders 🙄

Unlike some hypocrites that will condemn Buhari daily but still went to collect the awards, shinning their teeth!

Apart from the metallic medal, what other benefits is attached to this award???

    1. She's beginning to give pseudo intellectual vibes. Na story book she don write, no invention, no solution to any pressing human problems . Honor from your country is the highest honor bequeathed to anybody. Rejecting such shows contempt for your country. So, all the other awards she don collect , the people pure abi? Buhari represents the country, the award is not from him but Nigeria. It was even clear he was surprised by some of the recipients like the paystack guy. It's not like she's targeted or anything of that nature. Buhari is not the only poor Administrator, a lot of countries are not doing well now, UK, US, Germany, Russia etc.
She needs to be 'calming down'.
With all her talk about racism, she's contributing significantly to western supremacy by dishonoring her country. What a shame!
