In Nigeria, we are the pioneer of self medication. Wen a poor man doesn't even have the money to buy d drugs,is it drs consultation fee he can pay?? Straight to aunty nurse by the roadside even if the nurse no see four walls of a nursing school. Na we go still tell her,aunty nurse I get malaria, give me drugs😂😂
ReplyDeleteSelf medication almost killed my 4th child, until I took her to the hospital and found out that I gave her the wrong antibiotics. If any of them is sick, hospital straight!!!

ReplyDeleteit is easy to say no self medication when you can afford it but say that to a lot of people who cannot afford private hospitals and have to resort to agbo sellers or chemist and other quacks. is it those same people who will pay for test before treating for malaria or typhoid? you cannot even go to a government hospital and be treated urgently or even attended to without paying for everything. till government affords people the basic medical care at minimal cost then self medication will continue to be a recurring decimal...
ReplyDeleteTrue talk @ Baby Oku, me for one can't remember when last I visit the hospital as I work late and most times have little or no time to take care of myself so just don't worry myself about going to the hospital; Instead I call my Aunty that is a nurse and has her own clinic. She has the test strips so she does test for me and gives drugs according to the test result.
