Hospital Where Big Brother Star Rico Swavey Spent His Last Moments Under Investigation For Filming Him With A Phone

A 30-second video clip showing the final moments of Brother Naija reality TV star, Patrick Fakoya (aka Rico Swavey) at a hospital in Lagos State, has attracted condemnation from members of the public and the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said the state government has commenced an investigation.

In the clip recorded by one of the nurses attending to Rico Swavey, the deceased , who was unconscious on a chair was placed on oxygen...
The nurses were attempting to carry him on to a bed when the nurse brought out a phone and started recording him.

Another nurse was heard saying

“You people should stop making the video; somebody is dying, you people are making video

    1. What can I say!!!! Only in the screwed up country will recording a stupid video will be prioritized to a human life!!! That nurse should be put in jail for life. Perhaps the poor guy might have be alive if prompt attention was given to him

    2. 13:28 You were just looking for an excuse to insult Nigeria. Nigeria is not screwed. Perhaps your humanity is screwed and you see everything from that narrow perspective

    3. @Alexander, you can't do such in saner climates without being jailed and struck off the medical register. Only in Africa will people film dead or dying people, what a continent!

    4. Whoever took that video should be fired. It’s unethical and unprofessional. Why did Kobe Bryant’s wife, Vanessa sue LAPD??
They took a video of the scene and posted it. They were made to pay.

  2. I have been seeing the video on my status in the guise of wishing him RIP. I am even more disgusted at the people posting it. How are u even comfortable watching someone dying to the extent of making a video. And then u as a human being now have the mind to download such on ur phone and further sharing it 🤮🤮🤮🤮. God forbid. I could never watch past the first few seconds

I am not going to watch it. It will freak me out. I followed that sweet man online, campaigned for him to move up in that bbn season. He even shared a special thank you message on twitter tagging my account along others after his eviction. I never met him in person.

I feel sick knowing that someone who isn't family recorded his last moment and decided to leak it online.

    3. I’m a tough person & can’t recall shedding tears in any funeral. But yesterday I cried when I read about Rico, probably because he reminded me of my late brother.. Later when I saw the hospital video around 11pm & the negligence, I cried & cried, that I was sobbing in my sleep. Nigeria should not happen to anyone. Incompetent doctors, heartless human breeds everywhere. What happened to conscience?

    4. Nigeria was not in the hospital where he died, that you took the pains to download the video and watched shows the type of person you are. People like you encourage the nonsense. Why blame Nigeria for the negligence of doctors and nurses. There is the medical and dental council, have you ever reported the stupidity of doctors who clearly violated their oaths. People will continue to misbehave and put lives in danger because we allow them do so

    5. Can’t bring myself to watch that video. What this internet will do to some people eh.
In such a situation, you still had the mind to record someone who needed help. That nurse wherever she is, may she be deserted on time of need.

      Sluttychic.

  7. Man inhumane treatment of his fellow man. If I'm not wrong, they were speaking hausa language. And one of the nurses was scolding the hospital attendant making the video. The person that recorded him is not a nurse but all these busy body attendant. I pray he received adequate punishment for his offense. May God continue to rest his soul.

  8. I don't understand how some people can be so insensitive and inhumane! Recording a dying patient is the height of it! Some of these medical personnels are just somehow, I have had experiences in the past. May God rest your soul Rico Swavey 💔🕊️

  11. That was very wrong on every level. Most nurses don't have empathy. I hope whomever made that video is richer now. Ndi ara

  12. People should try to be emphatic in what concerns other people. The person that took the video should just put himself in the mother's shoes. If the person is really concerned videoing the incident should not have been his concern at the moment. They be should be used as a deterrent to others that always want to share news on social media

  13. Those circulating the video are so annoying
    Rico, keep resting 🕊

All competent doctors have japa,na mechanics full hospitals.May we never be victims. 🙏

  16. The nonchalant attitude of medical practitioners in this country is something else, the 'what will be will be , and you are not the first to die attitude in our hospitals needs to be checkmate.

  17. I've seen that video countless times and I think it was one of the guys that rushed him to the hospital that was doing the video and the nonchalant nurses who were suppose to be attending to an emergency in front of them were busy looking for who will help them carry the patient in a matter of life and death. Chai, the helpless Rico just laid there at the mercy of unprofessional people who didn't know what to do to help his situation.
RIP dear Rico. Everyone has only nice things to say of him and it makes me tear up. If only he survived the ordeal and see how much he's loved. If only.

      What a shameless pity.

So if the man is 200kg, how for do na?
They would have been treating him on that uncomfortable plastic chair before they can arrange area boys to carry him?
Just wasted a promising young man because of your terrible incompetence.
I wonder how many lives have been lost in that hospital.

I am still disgusted with the beasts who filmed Dr. Akunyli as he was struggling to breathe his last and lost generation of 'sharers', I watched for 6seconds and called the person who posted it on his status, after scolding and schooling him, he deleted and posted an apology on his status.

Some people eeh, we are gradually losing our humanity just for 'clicks' and 'likes'
May Rico's family and loved ones be consoled.

  25. I just hate the way we treat human life in Naija. May God help us in this country. May Nigeria never happen to any of us.

  26. I read one post on IG ,almost 4000 comments where people were complaining about this particular hospital. Different deaths, doctors high on weed, nurses rude and lazy, doctors googling infront of patient to determine illness etc.

Terrible, terrible, dirty stories about this particular hospital.

My question is, when these things happen why do people keep quiet?

You know a place is a DEATHTRAP, lost a loved one there due to obvious negligence, you know they have dirty shoddy services ,why do you fold mouth like envelope, allowing them to kill people like flies?

This dirty culture of fear, mediocrity and what not is what will kill every Nigerian at the end of the day.

You will not speak up when you should, you will reap the benefits of your silence.

    1. I wonder too and some so called celebrities knew about the hospital been a deathtrap and nobody has ever called them out. I don't really understand how some people would chose to be silent knowing how evil the place is. And nobody should tell me 'even if they speak up, people will still patronize them' then that's those ones bottle of kunu. We will remember that someone has spoken up concerning their bad service before

    2. Lane Minder. Your last sentence! 🙏

    1. It does not matter if it was LASTMA from onigbongbo who 'filmed it'.

Why were phones even allowed in such a sensitive area of the hospital and condition? Why was that phone not confiscated? Why was the patient being recorded in such a vulnerable state?

Who propped the accident victim up in a chair like a toy? Someone survived a car crash where his car was crushed like cellophane and you are sitting him in a plastic chair like a doll? What about internal injuries????? Are you not beyond DAFT like that?

Where is the required urgency and seriousness in treating a life threatening situation from these so called medical personnel?

Why was he not brought in a stretcher and immediately placed on the necessary medical protocol considering the severity of the situation?

Why will a so called nurse be cajoling fellow so called nurses to 'carry' a patient? Carry???

Why is a so called nurse wearing ballerina flats in the hospital. Those in the medical field who actually know what they are doing, know the danger of this.

There are so many questions but the fact remains IS THAT THIS PROMISING YOUNG MAN WOULD BE ALIVE IF NOT FOR THAT ABBATOIR.

Who knows how many innocent victims have lost their lives in that den?

      Such a terrible shame.
