DeleteI have too many childhood friends from three continents jare.
DeleteFacebook made it easier, I pick a school album photo, get to LinkedIn or Facebook, type their names and boom I find them, basically because many still bear their maiden names.
The power of language makes the bonding cool.
I'm still in contact with my very good childhood friend. Though we live in different states, but we often talk on phone.

ReplyDeleteOmo, i reconnected with a teenagehood friend and i can now remember why i lost contact with him. Expects one to reply immediately, and if not, sends messages like, "you're ignoring me", "what's up with you?", "why haven't you replied my message?", "it's like you don't like chatting with me", etc, when I may be at work or be busy with other things. He's nice but e be like say I'm almost regretting reconnecting with him.
ReplyDeleteAnyway sometimes it's better to leave things and people in the past and move forward, especially when you have not been in contact with them for a while and do not know what they have experienced and how the experiences have shaped them.
My bestie since we were 2/3 yrs old is still very much in my life. I think I've mentioned this before, I'm very good at maintaining friendships both new and old

DeleteThis is me, drifted apart from most of them, got burnt by some and got snubbed when I tried reconnecting with some. God knows I'll always help any old/new friend that needs help if it's within my capacity but keeping friendships doesn't really work for me and I've come to accept that.

For me the fact is that I'm too busy & too blessed to have time now for people I know as a child or in secondary school. Their presence & existence now irritates & annoy me.
