The fact we now enjoy the vegetables we hated as children shows that as we mature we can cultivate a taste for healthy, life-giving food. And since the Bible is soul food, you can cultivate a taste for that too. Eugene Peterson writes: 'Christians feed on Scripture. Holy Scripture nurtures the holy community as food nurtures the human body. Christians don't simply learn or study or use Scripture; we assimilate it, take it into our lives in...a way that it gets metabolised into acts of love.'
Research indicates the average Bible owner has nine Bibles and is looking for more. The unexpressed secret is that many people find the Bible boring. This is quite a recent problem - and a serious one. Ancient Greek, the language of the New Testament, has no specific word for boredom. The word didn't acquire its current meaning in English until the last few centuries. When we consider the ancient world - no television, internet, movies and virtually no books - we're inclined to think how boring it must have been. But the ancients weren't bored.
We're the generation that gets bored, because capacity to focus our attention and delight our minds in prolonged thought has been diminished by dependency on external stimuli. Great family I read the comments of a bv asking how one can dress for passport capturing and I read that one should dress smart, no wearing of white shirt, dress that expose the chest.
ReplyDeletePlease mine is on Friday and I plan to wears jeans with a navy blue polo or a short black gown above my knees. Hope this is okay to go please. Having a braid on my hair already do hair is good to go.
Please do not ignore my question as this will save a person who doesn't have plenty dress abi clothes.
If you have plan trouser with a nice shirt that doesn't expose your chest you can wear it than wearing polo and jeans trouser.

I have a kind father who puts little effort in his dressing maybe because of his profession. He imparted that habit in all of us. Because of him I like seeing people dress simple but good.
ReplyDeleteI had a senior colleague that dresses like my father. Each time he comes to my department I will compliment his dressing. You look very nice sir. This your perfume smells good Sir. Your tailor deserve an award. A female colleague in my office asked me to stop because the man is married and might read negative meanings to it. I took her advice and stopped. Three weeks later the man sent for me in his office. After greetings he asked me to seat. He asked if he has offended me. No sir. He called my name three times and repeated the same question and I responded Not at all Sir with a surprise look on my face. He wiped his face with his face towel and asked why I stopped complimenting him, Jesus, nothing Sir. He insisted there must be something or maybe he does not look good again. Honestly you always look good sir maybe office pressure took my attention off your dressing Sir. He stood up. Held my hands and looked at my face and said.. Please don't stop your compliments, it builds my lost confidence. He opened up and told me personal deep stories. Few months later he resigned because of those secret he told me.
That kind word might be the reason why someone is till holding on.
Before you say anything about anyone whether in their presence or absence, please weigh the consequences.

ReplyDeleteThe recent activities of the church of God(body of Christ) has derailed from the commandments of God.
They now find it difficult to know about their members or look for them except you are one Mr Somebody (I mean, in terms of money).
They do not care about the absentees. I got to know this through my recent study. I have not being giving anything in the church aside from my offering and tithe as at when due but once I'm not in church, no one to ask after me. Immediately I started paying monthly dues to support the work of the Lord, hmmmmm, you need to see how they keep asking after me and trying to know why I wasn't in church.
My question is, Is this normal? And why have we neglected the teachings of the creator and making wealth the yard stick in the house of God?

Pinky don't generalise the thing abeg. The body of Christ is the universal Church that binds all Christians together regardless of your place of worship. We all believe in same God but structures are built up differently. You can say where you worship things are done that way which ofcourse is wrong. You can take it up to your leaders and discuss about a change. That's the right thing to do. Not observing and wishing things would be different.
DeleteWhere I worship, we have a structure that caters to every member of Church. As long as you belong to a unit you won't be neglected.
And also a lot of people are not involved in what happens in the unit they function in. Everything is not about money. Ephesians 4:16 says; "From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love".
Be involved in the growth process of your unit. It's not all about money. Give your time, your input, follow them win souls, follow up members too, be a part of the welfare team. Find your place brother and be actively involved. When they call for money, give what you have and face other responsibilities too.
Even in the affairs of life, when you find yourself in a group you should try to be a part of what's happening there by contributing positively. You will always be remembered.
Sir, the matter no funny at all. My own now is that last two weeks ago I was in church and I was among people that came out for seed sowing and they took my number and address, na so I Dey house on Tuesday pastor and his wife came to visit me! No call nothing!!

Some of us leave immediately after sharing the grace,we won't even greet anybody. We won't join the workforce either so how can we be known? A lot of members don't attend home cell fellowship ,meanw mean that's the first place to be known especially if it's a big church. Yes the church can do better but we also have a role to play. Come to think of it,we are the church!

But I expect that a church to have a group or group of persons that would be able to identify a new person that visits the church. Some of these visitors signify that they're new when they're asked to but some usually don't. It's expected that some people are given the task of noticing these kinds of people, welcome them privately and probably collect their contacts for reaching out. I try to reach out to certain people who I have their contact in my church when I don't see them after one or two weeks

Lord what have I been doing wrongly that made me not to meet guys, why do I find it very difficult to find a man who will ask my hand in marriage.

My face is not hard, I smile always and I greet people even those I don’t know but the rate at which I am still single and no relationship before I will talk about serious one is a case to have sleepless nights.
How do I attract them to ask me out, I smell nice and do not dress too expensive, I have a job, I do side hustle so what could be the problem. I attend church, I attend parties or birthday, hang out alone once in a while but still non has seen me.
What have I not done or what do I have to do to find a man for myself, lord this single life I don tire for am. I need my own man to call a husband not a person to fornicate with.
