Awawu Haruna was dragged before the Kwara State family court alongside her father, Haruna Danjuma, by her legal husband, Ayuba Sule, after she married another man.
Sule disclosed that his wife married another man without the dissolution of their marriage.
The man told the court that his father-in-law played a prominent role in his marriage with her daughter under Islamic law and rites.
Sule, however, revealed that on August 6, 2022, the father-in-law, facilitated another marriage between his daughter and one Jemilu Bahause while the marriage contract with him was still subsisting.
“Alhaji Haruna Danjuma who is the father of my wife Awawu, in order to conceal the illegality, relocated her daughter and the new husband, Jemilu Bahause to an unknown location and they have since been living together as husband and wife,” Sule told the court.
Magistrate Abdulraheem Bello adjourned the case till September 26, 2022, for hearing.
He ordered both the couple Awawu and Jemilu, as well as the father of the bride to be remanded in the federal Correctional facility, Ilorin.

DeleteMao Akuh Nigeria don't practice polyandry, infact the law, customs and tradition frowns at it sternly on the other hand polygamy is generally accepted by our culture and tradition... Yul Edochie is a happy polygamist even against what his father believes in. Yul's father is an avid monogamist while Yul is a South African(Zulu) type of polygamist, there is every possibility of him getting a third wife and he might end up having 3 or 4 wives... A typical Zulu man can marry upto 8 wives. Thank you.
