CNN’s Christiane Amanpour Tweets Shocking Reason Interview With Iran’s President Raisi Did Not Hold

Popular CNN Journalist Christiane Amanpour was supposed to Interview the President of Iran but he did not show up... Guess why!

She tweeted

''Protests a
re sweeping Iran and women are burning their hijabs after the death last week of Mahsa Amini, following her arrest by the “morality police”. Human rights groups say at least 8 have been killed. Last night, I planned to ask President Raisi about all this and much more.

This was going to be President Raisi’s first ever interview on US soil, during his visit to NY for UNGA. After weeks of planning and eight hours of setting up translation equipment, lights and cameras, we were ready. But no sign of President Raisi.

40 minutes after the interview had been due to start, an aide came over. The president, he said, was suggesting I wear a headscarf, because it’s the holy months of Muharram and Safar.

I politely declined. We are in New York, where there is no law or tradition regarding headscarves. I pointed out that no previous Iranian president has required this when I have interviewed them outside Iran.

The aide made it clear that the interview would not happen if I did not wear a headscarf. He said it was “a matter of respect,” and referred to “the situation in Iran” - alluding to the protests sweeping the country.

Again, I said that I couldn’t agree to this unprecedented and unexpected condition.

And so we walked away. The interview didn’t happen. As protests continue in Iran and people are being killed, it would have been an important moment to speak with President Raisi''.

The bottom line is that the man didn't want to honor that interview, he knows alot would be asked and he didn't have the right answers the her questions.

  10. You see Muslims? They can't take what they dish out. They will force their host countries to accommodate them especially when they are in the minority, but they will never tolerate any religion or people who aren't Islamic. Such hypocrites.

  12. It's the irrational Iranian president's impudence for me! His stupidity really takes the biscuit! His obvious folly at thinking he could dictate to a woman in a free world about how to dress for an interview with him reeks of a special kind of delusional grandeur. I'd rather watch Tinubu and buhari argue about garri/ewa than watch the president of Iran and I don't even like Amoda or the natiinal effigy. Who he epp? Mtscheeeew...

  15. Men need to just stopeet! In France MEN mandate no hijab, in Iran MEN mandate hijab. You can do what you like with your bodies and clothes, women all over the world should be able to do the same.
Women aiding and enabling these dictators, please stop! Hijab for those who want it, no hijab for those who don't.
