INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD


Exclusive br#astfeeding was advised as the best approach to feeding babies during antenatal and post natal clinic, so I had made up my mind to br#astfeed exclusively.

I br#astfed exclusively for both kids for the first six months and nobody told me how exhausting it would be but what kept me going was the benefits I was told.

Br#astfeeding helps prevent diseases in babies because it helps boosts their immune system, br#ast milk contains important antibodies etc.

There is the issue of exclusively br#ast fed babies not taking other complementary food after six months. A lot of moms warned me about it and truthfully my kids had that issue. Yet I have seen exclusively breastfed babies adapting to solids easily . So I think it depends on the child.

I have also seen moms who couldn’t br#astfeed exclusively because of various reasons ranging from health, job, not producing enough milk etc. Their kids grew up healthy, strong and very intelligent.

I have come to the conclusion that moms should just do what works for them without feeling inadequate or ashamed.

( I have been shamed for exclusive br#astfeeding and I have witnessed someone being shamed for not bre#astfeeding exclusively).

I have mixed feelings when it comes to talking about br#ast feeding....that feeling when baby is sucking is priceless, the pumping feeling and then the discomfort....kai....
