A woman filed a notice of petition in court praying the court for the dissolution of her marriage on the ground that the husband was not man enough because he hid himself in the toilet when armed robbers paid them a visit and left her and their children to the mercy of the unwanted visitors.
After reading the said publication, my mind raced back to a similar event that I witnessed in May 2004. I was returning from Ibadan to Benin quite late and just between Owo and the Oluku axis of Benin, I, together with other travellers got robbed. Of particular interest was a newly wedded couple. I later gathered that each of them was from a different part of the country but I shall not delve into details of their ancestry as I do not promote stereotypes.

Most of them heeded the clarion call but Mr Oga refused to until he heard the voice of his new bride. Eventually, he returned to the scene of robbery and behold he got served with the most sumptuous "breakfast" of the decade. "He chop enough woto-woto." You should have seen the way bystanders waded into the matter and tongue-lashed him. He got a full dose, trust me.
On a serious note, could you just close your mind for a few seconds and imagine yourself in a similar situation, what would you do? "Save the day" like 'Superman' would always do or 'take cover' like Mr Oga? May your loyalty not be tested. In any event, always remember your vow "till death do us part."

At that point the best thing would be to run..These things are not planned but at that point, the first person to save would be yourself....LOL
When faced with death, the natural tendency is to save yourself first. I don't blame the new groom...the only situation your intuition will ask you to stay and defend or beg is if it involves your child and that's majorly from mothers.

ReplyDeleteThis happened to my aunt also, in her case, her hubby left her and hid in the ceiling, she was so pissed😂.
She eventually moved out and rented a house some place else, they lived apart till his demise.
That is wickedness if in his own house he had to hid and left his wife to face them not minding the consequences

Why is anty seeking for divorce? Na she send robbers come? What if they were serious to kill and then they kill both parents, the children will become orphans? Seeing a grown male might even trigger them to be more violent. Parents are protective of their children, maybe in her case she is the more protective one. Wo! Na she wear the shoe, she knows where it hurts.

No wonder they ask who will fend for their children if they seek divorce. Even without divorce, baba is a lone ranger.
The woman wanted to divorce before. Truth is that people do things on impulse. I remember the day in my former house our neighbors bedroom gutted fire. I recall I ran downstairs without even thinking of my kids. I am a woman oh. It was my husband and nanny that carried the kids downstairs. Infact I went down with just a wrapper. I did not know what I was doing sef. Till today my husband still teases me about it. People just handle stuffs differently on IMPULSE.

Sometimes, it's on impulse and you can't tell your next line of action. I remember then during the one million and one boys era, a friend with big muscles, very big guy was at his Grandma 's place when the boys came calling, the neighbourhood was awake and everybody was alerting each other about their presence in your compound. Guy was alerted that they were in his compound, he opened the kitchen window slightly to check for himself, behold, he came face to face with one of robbers, as in eyeballs to eyeballs....he said he felt his head swelling up like a Kwashiorkor infected kid, then on impluse, he didn't know when he ended up under his grandmother's bed leaving the poor old woman to face the robbers. They robbed them of their phones and some little change. Till date, my guy stopped flexing his muscles around. It was really a humbling experience for him.
