-. The Edo State Police Command has announced the killing of a suspected kidnapper at Izuala forest in the Ovia North East Local Government Area of the State. The State Command’s Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, explained that the exploit of the command in killing the suspect followed a complaint by one Mr Moses Aisosa of Eyaen community.

-. The Police Service Commission (PSC) has suspended the recruitment process of constables into the Nigeria Police Force. The commission did this less than 24 hours after the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, fumed over an advertorial on recruitment.

The Jama’atu Nasirl Islam (JNI) has called on the federal government and the leadership of the Nigerian Army to as a matter of fairness and justice, hasten the prosecution of the culprits responsible for Sheikh Muhammad Goni Aisami’s death, and execute judgement. In a statement issued by its Secretary-General, Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, JNI stressed that the judgement must not only be done but should be seen to have been done.
-. The Governing Board of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has instituted an investigative panel to probe the death of its North-West Zonal Director, Julius Haruna. The secretary of the board in Abuja, Tam Tamunokonbia, in a statement on Tuesday, said Haruna died in the commission’s office on Wednesday in Katsina State.
- Dr Osagie Ehanire, the Minister of Health has said that there are actually enough medical doctors in Nigeria.
He said the Federal Government is working toward replacing any medical doctor who resigns and leaves the country.
Ehanire, who made the assertion on Tuesday in Abuja during a media conference, also said that the number of doctors leaving Nigeria is less than 1,000.
According to him, there was no embargo on the employment of doctors and other health personnel in Nigeria.
--In 2020, during the hard days of the countrywide COVID-19 lockdown, Tola Azeez was physically assaulted and brutalized by some personnel of the Osun State Police Command, Iwo Divisional headquarters.
The video of the assault recorded via a smart phone went viral, which forced the Osun State Police Command and the Force Headquarters to look into the matter.
In February, 2021, a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo ruled in her favour and directed the Nigeria Police to pay her N5 million in damage.
Tola Azeez told Dailypost that more than one year after the ruling, she has not gotten a dime as compensation and the Nigeria Police has not deemed fit to tender an apology.
