A woman in the house does not guarantee old age care for a man. Who cares for who when couples are almost age mates?We always assume that all married people have wide age difference between them or that it is the men who will need care in old age.
The care a wife gives her husband in his old age if she is younger and healthier depends on her selflessness as it does (if at all) on how she was earlier treated. We read here of the woman planning to suffer her husband in old age because he didn't set her up in business, not that he didn't provide for her and her children. In fact she was on how to go live with her son well trained by the husband. Cases abound of cared for wives who ran away in face of the hard work of care giving to their partner.

ReplyDeleteA lot of women have their own money. It's simplistic of men and also a big cop out of the many demands of a relationship (including giving time, attention and commitment) for men to constantly think that it's always about money.
