    4. Even this man was thrown into prison by the military for your rights, your parents were hiding behind their beds.

      What has he stolen? If it the case of the scared business man who roped him in so he could get Hell ruffian off his neck?

      Once you see polished shoes in Nigeria, you start wishing evil on the person and calling them names yet you are starving yourself in the name of fasting for progress. It is wrong please.

  5. What is he insinuating? Why would a maid you treat well report you for something you didn't do?

    1. It doesn’t matter if you treat a wicked ambitious person well or not. You can’t offer more than a UK/US citizenship can you? Why remain in your employ as a help when they can get citizenship and a whole new world of opportunities? It’s a no-brainer.

      Parents should just begin to learn how to take care of their kids and house chores themselves. Simple and short. I said it once that when Nigeria becomes better, most homes will know they are not rich enough to pay for a house help. The only reason why it’s worth it getting a help from Nigeria is because of the huge income disparity. You pay the Nigerian peanuts and it seems like a good bargain compared to Nigerian wages.

      We have to change our mindset to understand it’s all exploitation, no matter how much ‘sense’ it makes.

      You being good and kind does not stop an ambitious help.

    2. Travel out and hire people that are already there and have work permit. Because of the salary disparity, you may have to reduce the number of staff you hire but please don't risk it if you will not pay them the minimum wage of the country you are moving to. Paying them their current salary in naira and providing accomodation and feeding over there is still considered exploitation and you will be charged and be made to pay them the difference in their current salary and the minimum wage if reported. Your family will adapt without them once you have the funds to pay for services you need.

    1. The maid will say he/she did that under duress.
      Oh! You are a BAT supporter, no wonder the comment.

    2. @Game Mistress, that is not enough. When investigations begins, they will look into a whole lot among which is wages. That I bet will fall short of what maids are paid per hour over there then it would be flagged as exploitation.

  8. My take on this;
    Oh Lord, please confuse all the Nigerian politicians who have looted us dry, to take their maids to UK, Europe and America. Let them stumble and infringe on the laws of those nations, so that they will all be jailed there, (since they have used their looted funds to pay off prosecutors in Nigeria, and so cannot be punished here for their crimes.) Raise the responsible leaders and let them have opportunities to govern us. In Jesus name, Amen!

    2. Anon 22:30, my cleaning lady takes $150 for 8 hours work in my house, I can only afford her twice a month (I’m upper middle class American). The cleaning lady has dignity, drives a clean SUV and has a home though in a cheaper town & neighborhood building wealth for herself & family doing what your personalized “maid” does for many families.

      Nigerians hire poorly paid drivers, maids, gatemen, depressing wages while living large! “We are the change we have been waiting for” & I hope your “maid” has a future when she is too old to be your “slave”? You indicated that your kids are grown up , did she stay home without getting a life skill for herself? You & your type are like the Ikes, Tienubus & Atiku etc. You turned Nigerian poor masses into 4th class citizens with no social mobility or opportunities to move up even while spending recklessly in front of them, I hope they continue to report such when they are brought here as maids.

      Your type will still attend religious houses forgetting that in heaven there are no maids or servants. There is only people. You visit the west but do not imbibe the good values, only buying the material items. May God help you see & repent and pay reparations to that human being you enslaved. Most of you forget that under Awolowo in the West our parents sent all the relatives helping in the house to school to also get educated, many are very successful today. We blacks here are fighting the fallouts of slave dealing till date yet many like you gloat about enslaving other human beings just because you are richer! Who created the numerous scholarships for the less privileged, section 8 housing, the labor laws here? People who were tired of exploiters like you. Repent!
