Owo Church Attack - Eye Witness Recalls Seeing Four Gunmen Running Off After Killing Scores Of People..

Some eyewitnesses have narrated how the attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, headquarters of the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, happened on Sunday June 5, 2022.

One of them, identified as Taiwo, said he was approaching the church when he noticed the people fleeing and had to come to a halt.

He added that he was only able to see the attackers, four men, getting into a green Volkswagen car.

He claimed that some Amotekun Corps members arriving in their car gave the hoodlums a furious chase, adding, “I learned the gunmen abandoned their vehicle and fled.”

According to another eyewitness, the congregation was taken off guard when the hoodlums began firing.

He stated that some of the worshippers fled to avoid being shot while the attackers threw dynamites inside the church, blowing off the altar.

He claimed that the church was filled up, with no fewer than 500 people inside when the gunmen opened fire.

The gunmen allegedly used dynamite to blow up the church’s altar during the service, causing part of the altar to cave in as the gunmen shot many worshipers.

  3. Opened Twitter this morning and I've read up to 5 tweets from people who lost their loved ones in the Ondo Massacre..

One guy lost his uncle, the man's wife and kids... A whole family wiped out.

    A lady lost her parents.

Another lady lost her uncle, his wife and all except one kid; a 3 year old who is still missing.

This is one tragedy far too much.

    Yesterday, Nigeria happened again.

People left home to worship and met their sudden violent end.

How many more senseless killings would it take for something to be done???

Scores of people are being slaughtered in the South, in the North, in the East and in the West.

We are not safe in our houses.

We are not safe in our schools.

We are not safe in our farms.

We are not safe in our churches.

People travel with their hearts in their mouths because even the roads are not safe.

    Muhammadu Buhari

This is one massacre too many!!!!!

    Do something!!!!!!!

    We are tired!

  12. Make no mistake, what happened yesterday was an act of Terror! Guess what? This is what has been happening in the middle belt and Southern kaduna for years now. Go read the book on documented deaths of Christians carried out by herdsmen called " Nigerian silent slaughter " in the middle belt.
I wrote about it here months ago, those people have lost thousands of their farmland to herdsmen, the little farms they have left they are using to Bury their dead. How can they farm and produce food ?

Sleeper cells of terrorist links have infiltrated the west , south and east.

Our leaders in these areas have failed woefully because they seem more interested in power.

Make no mistake guys, we are at War! The fulani believe they own this entire land and country and they live to conquer. Wake up!!! We have to resist!

If you are interested in the document book

"Nigerian silent slaughter ", Lemme know and I will send you the soft copy. Guys read! Open your eyes!

    2. This is what has been happening in the North East for over a decade but nobody cared.

People observing Jumah prayers were slaughtered like chickens. But, after a while, it didn't even make the news

      Afterall, they are Muslim "cows"!!!!

I will not join others in seperating one human from the other simply because of their beliefs. It is not Christians vs Muslims. But, People vs murderers/killers.

If we are to believe a viral voicenote speaking in the Owo dialect, in this instance, the guys appeared to be of Yoruba origin, spoke English and were looking for the priest that was meant to officiate but had gone on another assignment. The speaker said that they initially thought they were from XXX office.

When voices were raised between the 2 gun men that approached the altar, and the priest, some of the parishioners out of curiousity started to gather around the altar and to get away, According to the voicenote, the attackers threw a dynamite and shot their way out.

Let's see how this will be spinned but the accounts are not geling.

May the souls of the departed get justice.

    3. The Muslims that were killed were not Fulani's. Fulani's are killing the citizens of Nigeria so they can claim Nigeria. These people killing Nigerians are not Nigerians.

  13. Lord have mercy.. To what end nau? This is just beyond madness, My goodness.. But I'm consoled solely by the fact that the perpetrators will never find peace as long as they live. Oh they just murdered their own sleep and peace of mind.

    1. Ms Abroadian, where do you reside?

Is it legal for Nigerians to own guns? How many can you kill? The USA has gun laws which they are now trying to change because of the almost daily gun related crimes, it's best we are mindful of our utterances.

    2. Anon It is what it is.

Since the government won't protect its people, then we need to protect ourselves. You cannot farm in peace, you cannot go to church, you cannot move around without watching your back?? Wetin?
To answer your question, I live more in Nigeria than the UK!!

My people, let us protect ourselves.

    3. It IS illegal to carry a weapon.

One man/woman or even a family will shoot how many rounds? Are they to take turns watching the gate/fence?

You have an alternative when the country becomes even worse than it is because those of us abroad keep chanting war slogans forgetting that not everyone is opportuned to "live elsewhere", other than the hell hole they are currently in.

I am tired as well. I am scared for those that can't live. I am drained.

But I also know that we must be careful with our actions/words. At least in public.

    4. Owning a licensed gun in Nigeria wasn't a crime in the 90s. The so called owners of Nigeria had to make it illegal for a time like this.

    5. What makes you think I have an alternative?

And if I have, do you know where my family lives? Do they all live abroad?
Abeg leave my comment for me, ise this energy to face your failed government. You don't know how that masaccre in Owo hits close to home for me. All I know is people have to start defending themselves, more like your security and safety is in your hand, the government won't do jack.
      Cheers!!

    6. When covid drama started, I used to go on long walks with my boys. Then there were a few cases of dog attacks in the neighbourhood, I started taking a small but very sharp knife with me. If dog attack me or my boys, I should wail and cry for help or call the police? Before I get help, what if it goes wrong? Mstchew, I will viciously stab the dog.
