Nigeria Medical And Dental Council Rejects Medical And Dental Degrees From Ukraine

The Nigerian Medical and Dental Council (MDCN) has said that Nigeria will not accept medical and dental degrees from Ukrainian universities obtained from 2022.

The council which regulates the medical profession in Nigeria said in a statement published on its official Twitter handle. “We wish to inform the General Public that Medical and Dental Degree Certificates issued by Medical Schools from Ukraine from 2022 will NOT be honoured by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria until when normal academic activities resume,”

The decision is because of the ongoing war in Ukraine that has seen many of its higher institutions closed for physical classes. Many of them are still, however, holding online classes, something the MDCN is against for medical and dental programmes.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Council categorically states that online medical training done in any part of the world is short of acceptable standard and is not recognised by the MDCN,” it said.

The council advised students currently studying medicine or dentistry in Ukrainian medical schools to seek transfer to other accredited institutions in other countries for the completion of their programmes.

  1. Impressive!! Medicine cannot be studied online. The Nigerian students affected should consider going to another country, tough world!!

    1. Yes it can
There are aspects that are classroom only and can be done online
The Ukraine schools and some others are not doing lab work or hospital training online. They are only doing the classroom part online. Nigeria is behind on this. During covid, people moved class online and graduated students if their courses could be done online but Nigerian public university kids stayed home. What a waste of time that puts us behind our peers

    2. This is just the 1st step, they have been pushing since to ban the degree from Ukraine. They even proposed that the children do 6months training 1st before they write that their exam to allow them practice in Nigeria. But the big men are not agreeing with them i hot the gist from my aunt. She's a Prof of pediatrics.

    3. Hahaha, anon I don't have the strength to argue. Most of them come back to Nigeria and know next to nothing, no be only online.
Medicine is not IT, accounting or Project management, be guarded.

    4. 14:45 many Nigerian trained doctors fail us simple and Uks on first of second attempt plus more
It doesn’t mean they don’t know anything like you’re claiming for Ukraine trained ones
Just means getting used to a new system is hard

    5. Other countries are supporting their returnees but Nigerians love making life difficult for their people. Add more trauma to their trauma.

    6. 15:27, thank you. Nigerians are pleased to hear that graduates produced in a better system but limited by their green passport find it difficult to prepare for a Nigerian exam for which there is no protocol or plan failed on first attempt. These same graduates would have resumed a successful career anywhere in Europe if not for the language barrier and their citizenship.

Get the stats on the Nigerian doctors who fail the USMLE and PLAB, or even ordinary IELTS and you'll realize why your glorious universities and teaching hospitals are ranked far below the systems being labeled in Nigeria for keeping their students in continuous learning unlike the Nigerian students who are currently being told to get their PVC and attend concerts while their mates abroad are learning even in wartorn countries.

They'll condemn your European or American exposure because you expect better in terms of ethics and equipment then come behind to get the phone numbers of these same doctors for their golden child who they want to send to the same schools. You'll all be fine.

  2. Country where medical students practice with mannequins instead of actual humans.
Anybody going to Ukraine to study medicine is just wasting his/her time except of course you plan to practice there but to come back with your half baked certificate to practice here no fucking way.
Nigeria can be anything but you our medical schools here, they are really trying. Students are taught both the practical and theory

    2. You are so 1900 I must say. Many Ukrainian graduates are doing well all over the world and do not even practice in Nigeria.

    3. How many of your relatives have donated their bodies to science?

Which degree will open doors in countries that matter: the medical degree from Nigeria or that from Ukraine? So the humane options of moving from cadavers to simulations is your own measure? Wow!!! Are we then to look down on Nigerian schools because the cadavers that they procure from the back of the mortuary are not properly prepared or preserved due to the eclectic power supply?

They may not have enough bodies of armed robbers and victims of police brutality to mutilate for anatomy in Ukraine yet their graduates are making exploits all over the developed world while the Nigerian graduates who pass international exams after numerous trials start groping and ogling colleagues or pushing Ponzi schemes after landing.

Every school of repute had to go virtual so as not to abandon their students over the last two years. Let the Ukrainian graduates face their language exams and other qualifiers. Nigeria will continue to be a hurdle on your path to success until you succeed against all odds and are claimed by force bya country that did absolutely nothing to aid you.

  3. In another news,
"Any poli-trickster" that goes to Europe and America for hospital treatment will not be accredited to run "erections" in Nigeria. Abroad
hospitals cannot treat Nigerian poli-trickster's diseases. It is unacceptable to the Nigerian masses"🤡🤡🤡🤡

  4. Most of them that studied in UKN, romania, Bulgaria, etc cannot pass Nigerian medical exams when they come back. They actually bribe their way. #fact

If you wanna read medsurg abroad, try the top 3 countries, that is if they will admit you.

  5. Very true at BB. Them no sabi anything but people will still argue and say you are lying. Study medicine in USA, UK, and Canada. Ask yourself this, why are Nigeria trained doctors in hot demand in the abroad?

    1. They are not in hotter demand than other doctors
I say this as a good Nigerian
You are overstating how naija doctors are viewed here. Nigerian doctors that find their way to the USA and take the exams are frequently tho not always able to find residencies and progress from there
It’s not common to get a visa to come practice med in the USA from Nigeria. If you could get such a visa, then you can claim high demand

  6. To any Nigerian Medical graduate fromnUkranian University reading this, please contact GMC in the UK for registration, sit the IELTS, PLAB 1 and PLAB 2 exams. From 2020, GMC DOES NOT require EXPERIENCE; this means you can start your FY1/Housemanshiop directly in the UK. Getting a residency is straightforward. Don't allow the comments here make you feel bad- YOU DON'T NEED TO GO BACK TO NIGERIA. Your UK job will spomsor your visa. 5 years later you get tour Indefinite Leave to Remain, and after a year, you become a British citizen. There are many Ukraine-trained Doctors in various Residency programmes in the UK.My only regret is going to Naija to spend a whole 4 years before leaving...delayed salary, practicing medicine like a Babalawo..etc due to lack of proper facilities, after training in a Developed Country
    . I rest my case
