What is going on?
I predicted this would happen when the Northern governors supposedly gave their nod for a Southern President.... i said it looked like a trap and before 2023, they would all decamp to support their own...... I had not finished talking when they started decamping......
What do you think about those running (especially) from APC to PDP?
That has been their agenda, its a northern agenda to push at ik u there, and a little of Southerners and Westerner are falling for it, atiku is buhari choice, but God pass them
ReplyDeleteSo who has decamped, can someone come with the facts please?
ReplyDeleteHas any of the governors decamped?
I like your comment @anon 11:04. We need to always put things in context. We need to know how many senators, house of rep members and governors have decamped. All we have heard so far is that there is/will be mass defection, but we are yet to see that, but a few.
DeleteThere’s no significant defection yet that can turn things in Atikus favor but maybe with time we’ll see it happen. For the PDP to field a northerner knowing that another one just did 8 years shows they know what they are doing and are banking on their numbers as usual. This singular decision will be rise to power or it’s eternal downfall.
DeleteNa abokis na. They don't want to leave power but God pass them. We are having our own Joseph who will take us out of troubled Egypt
ReplyDeleteNortherners are good in tribal and sectional politics. I know Tinubu will be left on his own and fate, not after he ridiculed Mr President telling the whole world how he singlehandedly made him president. The fulani man doesn't forget neither do they forgive. When I said it two weeks ago on how some influential senators met with Atiku shortly after Bola Tinubu won the primary, some persons here called me a liar. Now it's all playing out.
ReplyDeleteAt the end, Peter Obi will defeat them both. It doesn't matter what they scheme or do.
If a man could withdraw his condemnation of evil for fear of votes, he won't stop herdsmen k1llngs /Boko Haram etal for same fear. Atiku won't do better than Buhari.
DeleteNortherners are die hard stan of "United we stand,Divided we fall"and it's been working for them.
ReplyDeleteThis election is filled with so much uncertainty,I fear the worst might happen.
Let's come out and vote o,Very important.
Leaving APC for BAT???? I knew that statement on making buhari president will cost him! Reminds of Macbeth by William Shakespeare! The witches deceived him!
ReplyDeleteI said it. Those northerners are always loyal to their own.
ReplyDeleteYet they were not loyal to their own when GEJ won in 2011 even against Atiku in the primaries and against Buhari in the generals. Or when Abiola defeated Tofa by a landslide. Or when Lawan was left holding the bag at the cost of his senatorial seat or whenever Northern politicians sue and win each other in court.
DeleteThis pessimism is limiting as it is the ever available excuse as to why you don't even try but just stay nagging, waiting for something that everyone else is working for to be automatically zoned to you despite refusing to build any strong political following outside your zone.
Most senator/house of representatives that decamped couldn't get their party tickets for another election, that why they decamped. Yet to see a governor that decamped recently and please leave people to support who they want to support, stop bullying people to support your choice.
ReplyDeleteAs bad as we think Abacha was he still had his supporters, get your PVC, support and campaign for your candidate but please stop bullying people to support your choice. Out of the popular 3 candidate nor is perfect, one might just be a lesser evil.
Tens of thousands of PDP members in Osun are decamping to APC and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteThe Oyo deputy governor who won as PDP has decamped to APC.
For parliamentarians who felt cheated by their governors in the primaries, they are decamping with their followers to make a point. Those who didn't secure their tickets in PDP have joined other parties or formed their own eg Abia's senator Abaribe decamped to APGA and Shekarau and Kwakwanso of APC decamped to NNPP instead of joining PDP for a northern plan. This just means votes in those big northern states would be split.
People like Aliero in the Senate and Peller in the HOR felt sidelined by their governors and believe they have the votes if they get the ticket of another party.
Not everything should be seen through the defeatist lens of a northern agenda. This is everyday politicking that happens prior to elections. Please let us not cause unfounded panic. Everybody on every side is decamping.
No one is going to get off the queue for you because you are a northener: politics in the north is also crowded with its own kingmakers, players and godfathers. Joining a party at this time without a strong base and certain agreements means that you will decamp again because you'll get nothing. Ask Na Abba, Gusau, Aliyu and the many northern former governors in the Senate who are being retired by present governors they brought to power but who now want their seat in the parliament. Despite the claimed northern agenda, Sokoto, the seat if the caliphate has remained PDP and Lalong was returned for a second term despite deep tension with religion and tribe in a largely PDP state: party structure comes up again.
Stella, let's not forget that politics is about gossip and speculation for so many and pieces lime this only serve to feed conspiracy theorists.
Whoever wins, it would be by their ability to get their house in order and attain the required numbers and spread.
