Catholics Prohibited From Attending Revd Father Mbaka's Adoration Ministry After He Tendered An Apology To EX Gov Peter Obi

Was his Apology forced or from the heart?

I am asking because a day after controversial Revd Father Mbaka apologised for calling Presidential candidate Peter Obi Stingy (and telling him he will never be President of Nigeria) , he has been suspended..

The statement reads:

“In the light of the happenings in the Catholic Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy Enugu, capable of undermining the Catholic faith and teachings; and after several fraternal corrections and admonitions to Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka, the Chaplain of the Ministry: and after having given him pastoral directives and guidelines for the Ministry Chaplaincy, which he persistently violated; and in fulfilment of my pastoral duties as the Chief Shepherd with the obligation to promote and safeguard the Catholic faith and morals in Enugu Diocese, I hereby prohibit all Catholics (clergy, religious and lay faithful) henceforth from attending all religious and liturgical activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry until the due canonical process initiated by the Diocese is concluded.

My decision is based on the fact that some of the teachings and utterances of Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka at the Catholic Adoration Ministry are not consistent with the teachings and faith of the Catholic Church.

I enjoin all the Christian Faithful to keep praying for Fr. Mbaka and the Catholic Diocese of Enugu as I entrust him and the Diocese to the maternal care and protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Apostles.

Fraternally Yours in Christ.

Callistus V. Onaga
BISHOP OF ENUGU.

  1. Should we forgive all sentenced prisoners after a heartfelt apology?
He has been running loose for too long.

  2. Yesterday, on the post about this Fr Mbaka matter, I wrote " this okro is growing or has grown taller than the owner." No matter how tall the okro plant grows, the owner will always pluck it. His bishop has tolerated his excesses for too long. He needs to be indoors for some months. Giving the Catholic Church a bad name

  3. We don watch this movie before Bishop. In fact, just last year. Then his "adorers" will protest and break some pews and he will be allowed to continue with his shenanigans next month. That is the problem with diocesan priests. If na missionary priest now like MSP, dem for don charter keke wey go go drop am for Mozambique or one of those troubled borders for Cameroun. Dem no born the diocesan priest wey go try this nonsense back then with Okogie or Kuka today. It's either you are too soft or he "settles" you. Chegharia nu. Ma ngi, ma Ejike.

    1. Well said Amebo. We were discussing this issue in our church group and most were of the opinion that his bishop had been compromised. On ordination, you take a vow of obedience among other things. I wonder then why he still does what he does despite warnings from his bishop.

    2. His"ministry" is cashing out and bringing in good money for the diocese. In addition, miracle chasers will be lost to ramshackle so called pentecostal pastorpreneurs if their fix of choreographed superstition is completely closed. The Catholic fold in Enugu is not as big or strong as other SE states as most were raised as Anglican or other protestants.

  4. Good one. Little by little we will get it right. Obi all the way. Touch him and face the anger of Nigerian youths. That same energy that was used during endsars is here to play out again. United we stand. "Sororoke"

  7. Hmmmmm, it is a good development now because we all supported Obi ,but when the mosque suspended the Alfa in Abuja it was violation of free speech. Reasons why things are not working in this country we are too sentimental

    1. Don't mind our double standard. The man has right to say his mind but because it will affect Igbo agenda they refuse to speak the truth.

  8. As much as this father’s utterances does not sit well with us, or maybe because it is not what we want to hear.
He is still entitled to his opinion!!!
    He is a Nigerian.
Anybody vying for a position as big as a president of Nigeria, should be ready for attacks from different people. Both true and untrue. The only way to deal with such attacks is to ignore the untrue ones, do better on the true criticism and stay focused on your dream.
However in future, he should make his utterances as personal as possible and not drag the catholic/christian body into it.
I think its just because this Father Mbaka is popular. Different pastors say different kind of things about politicians all the time, and Nigeria has not ceased to be Nigeria! What is the big deal?
Pastors cuss Buhari everyday in different churches, imams attack him everyday in various mosques, nothing has happened.

    3. @14:24 yes he is entitled to his opinion. The problem now is the platform, and what his platform is tied to. Speaking in a personal capacity is different from speaking for an organization. If your position makes it difficult to state your personal view without being misconstrued as that of your organization, a good option will be to keep quiet. Most times, his utterances are at his ministry, closely linked to the Catholic Church. He should steer clear of political statements. Peter Obi knows his critics and has been responding where he deems fit. This is not about him, but about a rogue and reckless priest with an inordinate ambition to have some political relevance.

    4. He's a priest and he's not just any Nigerian; he's answerable to his Superior. Please, do a little more research on the Catholic priesthood before you talk about freedom of expression. Anon 14:24

  9. Overtime now I have come to understand that what we perceived as justice is actually our want or likes not what the law says
