AMEBO CHRONICLES - Phone Matter

 People dont hear!

Every day we hear it on the radio and on the TV, don’t buy used phones but people will never learn.

One woman I buy cooked food from got picked up by the police and taken from our state to the third state.

I stopped there to collect my change from the last visit and I met her daughter, she said the mother travelled and I collected my change and left.

Days later I stopped by to eat as usual and met her looking tired and sickly.

Madam how are you? Then she broke down in tears.

The guy that fixes her dreads sold a stolen phone to her and told her he bought it himself, he was broke and wanted to go on a trip. He set up the phone for her because madam is not learned and pointed a setting she should never turn on because it could crash the phone. it was the Location button.

She was out buying pepper when she received a call that police men were at her gate and that she should run. The neighbor that called her already called everybody on the street before calling her. Imagine!

Aunty amebo told other neighbors that she always suspected Madam’s husband was a “yahoo boy”, that the police have come to pick them. Madam rushed home because she knew her hands were clean.

The Policemen asked her where she got the phone from and she explained to them. They in turn told her the phone was stolen and she had to come with them. She had no problem following them just that she had to confess to her husband.

When she bought the phone she lied to him that she got it from a shop and paid in installments. Chai! Oga was furious because she lied to him and was even collecting money for the installments from him.

Police whisked her away. She got to the state and called the guy that sold the phone and he was lured and caught. He confessed selling the phone to her. Madam already spent days behind bars and her husband didn’t even show up.

News of her arrest spread like wild fire and Aunty amebo gave people sweet versions.

When Madam was released and guess trooped in to welcome her, guess who was the first to go and greet her? Life!

Hehehehehehhe its Aunty Amebo nah...Nah their (our) way.

    1. There are risk in everything. But if you must use fairly used phone, buy from a known shop or location and ensure there is a receipt for the transaction.
