In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr Alex Ogbonna, on Monday, May 30; Ohanaeze Ndigbo, led by Prof George Obiozor, condemned the conduct; adding that those behind the fake news are mischief-makers, impostors, charlatans, and unscrupulous social climbers.
He said that Ohanaeze Ndigbo has never made a comment on a presidential candidate, and that they are awaiting the results of all primaries before making a statement.
The statement reads, “The attention of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has been drawn to a reckless publication currently circulating in the media indicating that Ohanaeze Ndigbo “blasts Atiku; and vows to work against his PDP candidacy in the 2023 polls; and that Atiku Abubakar, will never become Nigeria’s president.
“The press release added that “the Igbo would rise up against Atiku; adding that his presidential campaign would be rejected in the South-East.
“Ordinarily, Ohanaeze Ndigbo would have ignored the said press release; but silence in this circumstance will tend to give validity to such fallacy by the unsuspecting public.
“It is therefore imperative to inform that those behind the fake press release are mischief-makers, impostors, charlatans; and unscrupulous social climbers who have shamelessly leeched on the invaluable footprints of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to issue press releases for narrow, perverse, and illicit pecuniary interests. It is the unwholesome activities of such maladjusted, impish scaremongers that have been the bane of Igbo cohesion.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural body, led by Ambassador Professor George Obiozor has not issued any press statement on the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Ohanaeze awaits with keen interest, the full outcome of the ongoing primaries by all the political parties; before it can issue a press release with respect to the Igbo position on the 2023 general election.
“We remind the general public that the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is Ambassador Okey Emuchay, MFR; and that any claim to the contrary is, to say the least, devious and irresponsible.”
from 1st news..
People should ignore mischief makers.
ReplyDeletePlease who made them the "apex Igbo social-cultural organisation"?
ReplyDeletea na akọ-gheri....
MF that don't care about anyone but loots for their generations unborn. They don't represent me or anyone I know for that matter.
Everybody must not lead or speak for him or herself in general matters that is the reason for leaders/representatives. If they are not elected, they will not impose the position on themselves.
ReplyDeleteIt's another season where allegations and counter allegations fly up and down mostly for their pockets. No matter what happens, I am holding dear my PVC and voting whom my spirit leads.
ReplyDeleteThe South is not ready to work TOGETHER. It was evident in PDP's primaries.
ReplyDeleteI listened to Wike's comments after the primaries and the NE chairperson for Osinbajo's campaign team.
Till we are ready to come together, we will continue to lose out in the political space. We are not strategizing. We are not negotiating, and when we come to an agreement, in private, we sell out publicly. Gov Okowa and co sold out simply because they didn't want Some winning.
Tambuwal sold out his closest political ally in favour of his region. The Southern region did the opposite.
We are not ready.
Igbos want presidency and always shouting of being maginalized but Igbo delegates in the just concluded PDP primaries voted for Atiku a Northern Fulani Muslim man instead of Anyim Pius Anyim.
ReplyDelete120 igbo delegates attended the PDP convention, but only 13 + Anyim himself voted for the only Igbo man on the ballot. They all secured the bag 💰💰💰 and voted for Atiku
Later now, one useless Nnamdi Cownu and Simon Ekpa will come and deceive them with chants of marginalisation and Biafra and they'll pick up arms to butcher and cannibalize other people while they laugh at them and use them to make millions of dollars
You can continue to stand on Igbo presidency, the real Igbo themselves are displaying unalloyed loyalty to Atiku/PDP
😁
EESAH,
DeleteKindly permit me to draw your attention to "something"....
I understand that we are allowed our personal opinions on different issues, but as adults, I would implore you to be respectful while sharing your views.
If not respect for others, but respect for the owner of this blog. But most especially respect for yourself.
How we project ourselves while communicating goes a long way in how we are perceived.
A good number of times; like right now, your views aren't totally wrong. But your use of words usually rude/condescending/ etc leaves a not so good impression on me.
I want to read most comments because information is key to growth but it'll be nice to read comments not coated in insults.
There are many ways to describe someone/something/situation without being rude.
This goes for a lot of us. Let's try to agree/disagree without going this route.
Thank you.
Btw, your comment is spot on here. And I heard that you aren't from the North though.
I agree with u on this. How can the south East not vote their own and then cry over marginalization?
DeleteMy People my people 😁 It is well with us.
