Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter he personally signed and addressed to Iyorchia Ayu the chairman of the PDP, he also announced his withdrawal from the Presidential primaries of the Party.
The letter dated May 24, 2022, reads: “I am writing to intimate you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was conveyed to the Chairman of Agulu Ward 2. Anaocha LGA Anambra, effective Friday 20 May, 2022.
“Consequently, I am by this letter informing you of my withdrawal from the PDP Presidential Primaries.
“It has been a great honour to contribute to nation-building efforts through our party. Unfortunately, recent developments within our party make it Practically impossible to continue participating and making such constructive contributions.
“Our national challenges are deep-seated and require that we each make profound sacrifices towards rescuing our country.
My commitment to rescuing Nigeria remains firm, even if the route differs.
I wish to thank you personally tor your graciousness and leadership.
I wish you well and best of luck in the service of country.”

DeleteNothing.
ReplyDeleteHe should have stayed in APGA. By now, he'll be well revered, and respected.
He would have secured his personal followership and die hard supporters.
Bola Tinubu is not stupid for staying with his cooking pot.
Stay in a regional party to contest a national election? That is a typical sentimental response we Nigerians give without considering the bigger picture. Time to start thinking strategically - Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Delete6:08, AD/ AC was a regional party. You build, and stack your climbing stones and cut deals (Mergers) where you can till you have what you need.
DeleteIf you understand the science of politics, you won't write the above.
PDP would never have given him the ticket. At least not this time. He is too small a fish in the big pond.
Tinubu played the big fish in a small pond till he had gathered his political structure, and then merged. Though that's another story, and lesson for another day.
Na wah ooo
ReplyDeleteNa wah oooo. What is going on???? Which way Nigeria????
ReplyDeleteHe is now in NNPP.
ReplyDeletePoli-tricks or intimidation and recrimination. π€π€
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion he made a wise decision, we all know the like of Atiku will go to any length to buy his way to win the primary election. He should rather join another credible party that can give him the ticket.
ReplyDeleteNa real wa o! He's such a bemused one..
ReplyDeleteWhy not fight it out with them Wike and Atiku?
A lil birdie(online) told me that he's moving to the LP.
Vin.
According to the new electoral law signed, once you context a primary election and failed, you can't switch to any other party and context inorder to succeed as a flag bearer there. Peter Obi have seen that he stand no chance in PDP since the zoning arrangement has been jettisoned, so he made a better decision. This is why Ike Ekweremadu, Abaribe and co all withdraw from the primary. Tinubu will soon withdraw as well to join SDP or another party of choice. Take this from me. Do you know the next plan? A third force loading. There's a plan underway to float a new party by merging an existing one where this stalwart and bigwigs are sure of getting their various tickets. This is the politics about to be unfold.
ReplyDeleteThe new electoral law is hitting them hard on this one I tell you. So they are acting safe.
Teejay the cerebral one. Good postulation.
Delete*contest
DeleteNawaoh this politicians can never be trusted. The person I was rooting for.
DeleteBetter late than never. The most practical of all contestants. The rest na theory dem dey teach us - theory wey don fail us for 7+ years now.
ReplyDeleteNot even theory
DeleteGross incompetence and strong failures
I read online that he joined labour party
ReplyDeleteI think he wants to run under APGA.π€π€π€
ReplyDeleteAPGA won’t take him back.
DeleteRemaining Abaribe that one will soon Port too.
ReplyDeletePDP of today is disorganized and in total confusion. No structure there again, instead of them to come together to plan how to wrestle power they are busy fighting among themselves.
Their founding members are complaining bitterly
God bless you
DeleteThey would have given us Peter let us help them win
But greed won’t even let them agree amongst themselves
Carry us Dey go, Peter carry us Dey go another party π
Push up (original)
I was hoping you win but God knows all the best
ReplyDeleteMy remaining glimmer of hope for Nigeria is now gone.
ReplyDeleteGod is our hope for Nigeria, not any man.
Deleteexactly at Anon ..we dont know what the mind of God is concerning who to rule it may not be Peter
DeleteGod knows best and may His will be done.
