According to a statement issued by the PDP Governors Forum’s Director-General, Hon. C.I.D. Maduabum on Tuesday, April 5, the CBN governor is also showing lax attitudes toward the crashing of the Naira.
They said this in response to a statement by Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman.
Shehu had likewise chastised the main opposition party for claiming that the current administration had failed to address the country’s security issues and other challenges.
The governors also claim that President Buhari’s administration is “unconcerned and rudderless”; as it watches the CBN governor allegedly campaign with public funds.
The forum also questioned why a person in such a sensitive position would get involved in partisan politics. This is by running for president.
They said, “It is even more surprising that Garba Shehu mentioned the value of the Naira. What can we say, there is no strategy, no concerted effort to stabilise the value of the Naira.
“How can there be a plan when the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, is openly running for the office of President, spending billions in television; and newspaper advertisement and other costly engagements.
“This is being done under the nose of Mr President. There can be no better evidence of a government adrift, unconcerned, and rudderless. Without care about how the economy runs. The sheer arrogance of being in such a sensitive office and running for President is quite outstanding.”
There have been rumours of Emefiele vying for the top political office. He has, however, remained silent on his ambition despite campaign posters in some cities in the country.

DeleteWhere is it written in the constitution that a CBN governor cannot aspire for presidency like any other qualified Nigerian? If he meets the criteria for application, let him try his luck like other qualified candidates and let us, the judges choose who we want at the ballot. PDP should concentrate on telling us how they will make our lives better, convincing us they have changed and putting forward viable candidates and offering tangible sustainable solutions to bring Nigeria out of this mess and better our lives. Na who the people feel may offer close to what they need without them being bamboozled again like they were withe the fake change, naim go with, or na who rig pass go win.

ReplyDeleteAnon 23:18 If he wants to vie for any post, he should first resign as CBN governor. In a sane country, he will be in jail now.
