I will never forget this. When my husband and I were still dating. The mum wanted me to be calling her from time to time to gist and I just wasn’t that kind of person. So if I don’t call her for a while and I eventually call her, she will be giving me attitude like asking me why I’m calling her. And this would just totally ruin my day. I don’t even call my parents like that, that’s just how I am.
ReplyDeleteSo one day, I told my then boyfriend, now husband that it was getting too much. I asked him if I was in the wrong, after all, he doesn’t call my people and no one bothers him.
I will never forget what my husband said. He told me explicitly that I have no fault at all because I really do not owe his family members call but there was something he added.
‘Will it really be so bad for u to call her since that’s what she wants. Will it hurt you to try. I’m not forcing you, I’m just saying if u can do it, just do it since that’s the only thing she’s asking for’.
I took this advice and started calling her once a week like on Wednesdays and she will call me on Sundays. We will gist, gist and gist that I started enjoying our calls.
Today, we are best of friends and we still talk twice a week, mostly Wednesdays and Sundays and I am glad I took that advice because something as little as not calling my MIL could have caused a strain in my relationship with the in-laws but because I took that advice, I’ve got a very wonderful relationship with her and the rest of her family

DeleteThe best advice I ever got that works for me 100% of the time is "what you feed, thrives and multiply. What you starve, dies". I apply this to every situation and aspects of my life.
Epistle epistle.
DeleteYou came to this world alone and you are going to leave alone so whatever you do, always put yourself first.
ReplyDeleteGod forbid everybody takes and applies this advice/ideology. Thank God for selfless people who go out of their ways and sacrifice so much even in things they have nothing to gain from. Some have even given their lives for causes they believe in.
DeleteContext matters Saphire. Before you shout "God forbid", understand the context of what is being said before judging
DeleteBe kind, no matter how small 👌
ReplyDeleteGive your life to Jesus
ReplyDeleteFollow who know road;because Two poor men can't help each other..

Delay is not denial... It'll definitely get to everyone's turn✌️
ReplyDeleteNo one owes me nada so don't expect anything from people so I don't feel disappointed.
ReplyDeleteThis advice came from our eldest brother when I was expecting our close uncle to help me at the time I needed it. I'm glad I took it cos it helped me to depend more on God and also hustle better. Thank God for today.
Until you understand something, always keep an open mind about everything.
ReplyDeleteIf your boyfriend broke up with you and married another, cry and then thank God because you don't know who God is saving. It might be you or him.
ReplyDeleteI was in a deep sh*t and my sister said to me, " Girl, heads up, shoulders high. He who is without sin should first cast the 1st stone".
ReplyDeleteOmo, the quote helped me then rise and face life squarely and it's still helping me. So for my mind now, no matter as you portray yourself to be all righteous and holy, for my mind, I will be like " na dog wen dem see sh*t for him mouth be sh*t eater".
In summary, I don f*CK up, who never f*CK up hands in the air. NO ONE!
Always expect the unexpected! Everybody is your friend, every body is your enemy, live that way and nothing will surprise you Lol
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I should call it advise,my then boy friend said that i shouldn't plan on what I don't have.
ReplyDeleteGood name sells quick and last longer than riches. This was from my parent.
ReplyDeleteDon't stain your father's soil because when questions about you are asked in your village, whatever heard are believed to be the truth. From still my humble mum.
