The harsh business environment in Nigeria, triggered by rising energy costs and increasing forex rates has caused some bakeries across Nigeria to shut down their business operations.
There are also reports that pure water price has gone up due to cost of packaging going up as well.....
Can you confirm that the prices of Bread and pure water have indeed gone up in your area if you live anywhere in Nigeria or anywhere else around the World?
The prices of bread has also increased around German Bakeries.
Something that has gone up since.
ReplyDeleteAm not a lover of bread

DeleteNormal loaf is now N500 in my area, while the jumbo goes for M650 - N750, depending on the brand.
Delete5 bags of water (bought directly from the truck) is N750, while resellers would make an added N250 when they resell.
A satchet is now N20 or 3 for N50.
Bread had gone up for long na. Same with water. God help us o
ReplyDeleteE don tay wey d prices go up and they are still going up
ReplyDeleteThe water people in my area claimed its because of the increase in the price of diesel, especially as we hardly have light now.
ReplyDeleteI observed some people in my compound dont even buy sachet water. Is it safe to drink this borehole water that has particles?
If the water is clear,it's okay to boil and drink after cooling. When I was growing up we used to boil our water and fill in bottles.satchet water has made us all lazy.
DeleteBoil and allow it to get cold and settle down or better still buy water guard. I heard it's been sold in pharmacies.
DeleteEver since they increased the price of pure water in 2020 during covid, I stopped buying. We drink from our tap. I don't boil or add anything. My daughter and I have not died. If the borehole is well dug, you're good.
DeleteThanks,same thing with my family.
DeleteNa today? We go surely survive.
ReplyDeleteWith the Ukraine invasion, its common sense that bread price will definitely go up across the world. Not just in Nigeria. And here, a bag of pure water is 100 naira, 10 naira increase. Used to be 90 naira. Nigerians are naturally wicked to themselves and if you see anyone selling a bag of pure water over 120, that's a wicked Nigerian ๐
ReplyDeleteWhat are you saying? Is it the prices of bread, water and gas that have gone up in Nigeria since last year before whatever invasion you are talking about? Prices of food items have been skyrocketing in Nigeria since last year. Its only God that help the poor masses. Things are going out of control. Sigh!!

DeleteMaking bread is not the easy way out because all the bakery stuff are not cheap.
DeletePrices of things that have been going up since last year.A loaf of bread that I used to buy for #400, is now sold for #600. I used to buy five bags and half of sachet water for five hundred naira from the suppliers, they now sell 4 bags for five hundred naira. In fact, prices of food stuff in general have gone in Nigeria. Gas that I used to refill 3kg for #700 and sometimes #800 like two years ago, 3kg is now sold for #1,920. A derica of beans used to be sold for 200, 220 or sometimes 250, a derica of beans is now sold for 600, 700. Yam too is now expensive. Palm oil too has added money, same as groundnut oil. Prices of fish has gone up too. These are some of the things my brain can remember now.
