Singer Onyeka Onwenu Says If She Didn't End Her Marriage It Would Have Killed Her...

In an interview with media personality Kikilomo Atanda-Owo published on Thursday, 70-year-old Singer Onyeka Onwenu stated that she did not want her marriage to end.

She said: “I went through it, it was difficult because I really didn’t want my marriage to end but I couldn’t take it anymore, it would have killed me. I always say that is the truth and it was not good for the children to live in that kind of environment where the mother is depressed, the mother is carrying the weight of the whole family.

“I raised my children from kindergarten to master’s degree. My husband didn’t pay school fees for one day, didn’t buy clothes, didn’t pay for holidays, didn’t give me housekeeping money but he was a nice and kind and generous man and basically, there was control where if you didn’t do the things he wanted, ‘well I’m not going to help you, I’m not going to give you money and I would like to say this to Nigerians, any man who has children, has a family and decides not to take care of them, you’ll have to answer to God.”

Onyeka is mother of Tijani Charles and Abraham.

Maybe the man wanted her to stop singing which was not possible on her part or she was stubborn and the man punished her by refusing to do his responsibilities, which is bad.
Anyway, we thank God that she and her kids are fine.

Marriage is a huge unpredictable journey. You can either enjoy or endure.

But peace and love in marriage is the best.

We live in a time where many of those who are supposed to be leaders do not even know what leadership is about

Responsible strong focused Godly men understand that they are not called to a life of "anything goes" They have standards

They lead by relying on GOD and refusing to downgrade themselves to living small lives, thinking small , playing stupid childish dangerous games, living in denial about their foolishness , blaming everyone else for their bad choices and arrogantly living in reinforced ignorance

They understand that being a man is not just a gender or an age but a responsibility. They are a treasure and must try to out replicate the aggressive mentoring the feral are on a mission of.

Married men wasting precious time and money pursuing what is not lost, listening to advice from people more foolish than themselves, too lazy to pray and tend family prayer altars ,incapable of protecting and guiding their wives and children, feeling entitled to respect yet lacking it for themselves, trying to oppress and coerce others (bullying), not mentoring positively deliberating their sons because they themselves lack understanding so continuing a vicious circle of wildness

Single ones being workshy uncultured, entitled, playing daft games, Russian roulette with their future and mean/selfish justifying it as "sharpness"

It is appalling that society's breakdown is in fast forward because of arrogant ignorance by those who refuse to step up to the plate and take responsibility for deliberate and consistent change. Yet they are coddled, deceived and made excuses for , while they fail miserably daily. Standards of behavior, carriage, comportment, attitude and lifestyle have downgraded to almost nothing by those who don't even know their self worth. Don't get me started on the crassness and careless flinging of words disguised as "street". Street is not sounding like a tout, street is being smart on your feet, navigating pitfalls and maximizing good opportunities in life to pull yourself by the bootstraps while staying optimistic and resilient trusting GOD.

The difference between the right ones and the wrong ones is like night and day!

The good ones are like stars in a dark sky

I'm sure you didnt see the 'control' there. Or probably didn't understand that too.
And obviously... being nice and kind and generous to OTHER people now. People will have to break the most basics things down as if they are talking to toddlers. Pffft!

    8. Poster 8:43, a friend told me she almost left her marriage. Why? People couldn't understand. To outsiders he is nice, kind and speaks well. But to her it was different. She said if she tells people they won't believe. Because his attitude outside is different from his attitude at home. These things happen.

There are people who know how to take care of people outside than in their homes.

      Delete
    9. Completely contradictory. Anyway, the men are usually the castigated ones especially when claims of ' I raised the kids myself' comes up. Maybe the kids should speak up. Al these social media claims are just tiring.

      Rather admired aspects

I like her hairstyling consistency, it suits her
I like her dress sense quite age appropriate
Also her not so inordinate thirst (so far) for social media validation aka chasing clout

Her lifestyle doesn't serve as a yardstick however

Parents please work on your children's self esteem and awareness of right & wrong

Work on yourself and lifestyle so you are their role models
You will give account for how you led them

  12. In her days as a superstar, I was a fan & followed her itineraries. When it was rumored she secretly got married to a rich & influential Yoruba man , (can’t remember again, either married or divorced man) , I was happy for her. She also had her two sons immediately, in quick succession & that was d last I heard of her marriage. Those boys should be in their 20s or early 30s now. Each time she was asked in her interviews about it, she stressed that it wasn’t for public consumption but a private setting. Yes, it’s her life & decision & we gotta accept it d way she desires to let it be. Besides, d privacy helped to avoid d controversy that would have arisen , if there was any. Congratulations , auntie Onyeka for a supposedly fulfilled life. It is well.

    3. Poster 09:41, I have realized that people in that age group talk alot. The things they had kept in wraps come out that time. Example with my parents.

That comes with age. However, there are different things that happen to people who are old or in that category. But talking is one of them. Old people just want to talk.

I call my Mum for a 5mins how are you etc. We always end with 15mins to 20mins. She just goes on. Most times I let her talk.

      Delete
    4. Na waoh. I hope she still have her filters though. Cos that is the one that irks me the.most about talkatives, those without filters that open mouth waoh that you will almost want to lock them at home while going out for fear of embarrassment.

I see this statement as a "conundrum".
