So he called it...Rehoboth, because he said, "For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land"' (Genesis 26:19-22 NKJV). What a great example of practising forgiveness. During a drought, Isaac dug wells and his enemies claimed them. It wasn't fair, but instead of retaliating, he moved on and dug new wells - and God blessed him greatly.
God will fill the emptiness in your life when you forgive those who've hurt you. As long as we share this planet with other human beings, there will be hurt. There is no way to avoid it. And when hurt goes deep, it can be hard to forgive. Does that mean you should go around pretending that nothing is wrong, and denying how you feel? No, the first step towards healing is acknowledging your feelings.
And Jesus gives us the second step: 'Pray for those who mistreat you' (Luke 6:28 NIV). When you do that, something unexpected happens. Your heart softens and you start to see the offender through God's eyes instead of your own raw emotions. 'But I don't want to forgive them!' you say. Then here is step three. Acknowledge your unwillingness to forgive and ask God to make you willing. Pray, 'Turn me again to you and restore me' (Jeremiah 31:18 TLB).

ReplyDeletePlease let's be careful, the year before election is always bloody, all these politicians seek for means to finance their ambitions hence the increase in bank robbery, the one at Benin is just one too many to come, if you can, avoid going to the bank, make use of online banking, its possible to carryout transactions these days without visiting a physical branch. I remember experiencing a bank robbery of such magnitude in 2010, for over 45mins these guys laid siege with no interference, my whole life flashed before my eyes, as we could feel the bullets raining on top the roof of the building we were hiding in, I was lucky because about two people were hit by bullet even though it wasn't life threatening, and to think that the bank that was been robbed was about four blocks away, to show you how sophisticated their weapons were. A lot of people died that day including a pregnant bank staff and one IT girl, we talked just that morning not knowing it was going to be her last day. She and the pregnant woman ran into the toilet and locked themselves in, the robbers shot through the door and killed them both. Since that experience, I always feel uneasy in a banking Hall.
