Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative...

 Hmmmm.....

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
HEART BROKEN AND DEPRESSED

Hello madam Stella,

I don't even know who to complain or cry to. My heart is broken and I am confused. Let me break it down for better clarity.

I got admission to study nursing in a nursing school sometime in 2014. I and many others wrote the necessary entrance exam and I fortunately passed. We waited for a long time and when the admission later came, we were admitted into school of midwifery instead of nursing.....reason? The school of Nursing lost accreditation.

I took it in good faith and started midwifery and loved it. I graduated 2017....its a 3 years program. Normally, the result gets released in say 6weeks which when released, we have 100% but couldn't pay for our license even though it was ready....reason? Midwives go for a mandatory service then called "MSS_midwifery service scheme".

We couldn't go due to backlog of students that graduated long before us that haven't gone for the said service so we had to wait.....for close to a year+. Because some of us collected "to whom it may concern" from our principal, we worked while most hospitals refused the letter and hence those stayed at home and some went into other side hustles. I used the opportunity too to gain some certification courses.

After a lot of prayers and all, we were organised for camp and eventually deployed with those that graduated before us....praise God.

Now, I applied for my postbasic nursing which is a 18months intensive study. I wrote hospital final exams and then the council precisely on the 24th of November 2021. The result was released and about 46 schools had their result withheld.....reason? Irregularities. Therefore no license, no result......

We have called the principal and she has been dancing around the issue. Anyone who has gone through or trained someone in nursing for instance knows how expensive it is especially in the Eastern part of Nigeria and under the state government owned institutions that should have been cheaper!

She has simply refused to answer us, she said our parents should go to Abuja and meet the head of NMCN Faruk. She has outrightly refused to give us an accompanying letter to prove we graduated from said school to enable us do something worthwhile with our lives.

Let me state again THAT NO ONE was caught during the exam or signed a malpractice form. Nursing council is one exam that is very strict and person centered.....you are on your own! Talking to your neighbour or even glancing at her is considered malpractice.

I am at my wits end. I have prayed and still praying yet nothing is being said. We are only able to get information from naysayers or outside sources. The lecturers in my school dont know about this issue till we spoke out. They have no say though because the woman runs the institution as a sole proprietorship...! Decision making is hers alone. Now we heard she is retiring and handing over to an old lecturer who is her friend and our lives are standing.

Please,I don't even know what to do,no zeal,no drive and I should be contributing to myself and family. I know what it took me to see myself through school in tears and agony. Daily opportunities sweep past me.

Please keep me anonymous: advice me or encourage me. I feel like a failure and depressed. I hate staying in one place. No drive to do anything... Thanks.

This is is serious..... things like this only happen in Nigeria and can be so frustrating.... Please keep your head up and let us pray that the new head might have a change of heart..
Dont give up and dont stop updating the knowledge you have attained....In Nigeria you can only wish for the best or worst to happen...
If anyone reads this and can help, it would be great!

    1. I really can't understand. I have been seeing one guy on Twitter advocating for the nurses under going injustice in the hands of the nursing council.
The school you are shielding must be under the council scrutiny. If it's appropriate School of nursing, you won't be having this issue.

Keep hope alive and seek for a way forward. Your knowledge and skill isn't a waste..

    3. Dear poster, I did midwifery and I am in Reading UK now. Better stop feeling like those that graduated with RM in d 80s. Carry ur RM, do IELTS, do CBT, then apply for maternity jobs. Midwifery is in very high demand in d UK now. I have a nursing degree but don't even care about going to collect my certificate because I am rolling here. Here, nurses stay on band 5 for up to 7years, but midwives go up to band 6 immediately. Stay there and be belittling urself when nurses here wish they are u. Let me hide myself.

    1. poster,E-hugs. i will advise you like a senior colleague in the same profession. Put yourself together and don't lose hope yet. You can start to work with your midwifery result pending when your nursing result will be released. All the people affected should contribute money and send a representative to Abuja to meet the Secretary of nursing and midwifery council in person of ALH. Faruk. He's a very nice man,he will pay attention to you guys plight. Also, pray very hard against stagnation in life. God will see you through in Jesus name.

So many nonsense to talk about in this country..I paid 9k then for my TRCN but it was not given to us..we all were given our receipts but nothing was given out.

I am planning to register for the TRCN exam again in order to have that certificate which will cost me money again..

Something I paid for before convocation

  6. Why don't y'all come together and file a petition against this school/woman, you might as well CC all the important bodies including those in Abuja.

It can be charged to court ( just that no one can give an estimated time of when judgement will be given).

So sorry about your situation, I wish you all the best darling.

  7. As it is, I don't see the need begging her or going back and forth over this, you paid for the service and it's time for your school to meet one of it responsibilities.
Message Fisayo Soyombo via his social media handles, let him and his journalist blow this whistle for you all.
Sometimes, selfish ventures need to be called out to sit up cause they feel it affects their profit since that's what your school care so much about.
I don't know why you didn't mention the name of the school, we as citizens need to start saving others from falling into same hand.
Corruption and wickedness is not just taking place in Aso Rock, Nigerians in any office will want to frustrate you.

Can't that woman be sued? Or you students should push your story to the media houses so that the right persons can step in. Use Twitter to push your story now.

    Only in Nigeria!!
Please don't be crushed o this is only temporary. Sorry. Make money through NFTs and crypto currency and forget about your sorrows.

  12. Call the school out in anonymous mode with the name of the woman

  13. You guys should have an online group to discuss and strategize. Collectively, you can send one or two to Abuja to meet with Faruk or his proxy. Be rest assured that people in Abuja are oblivious of your predicament. From the online group, reach out to NGOs or human rights or civil liberty lawyers to advance your course. Just praying and waiting is not enough.

    Best wishes.
