It's usually the ones shaped like the Michelin Man that tend to have a lot to say about other people's bodies lmao.
ReplyDeleteYou just body shamed a woman too
Deletewho?
DeleteYes you did.@Snark
DeleteAnd you just did same. Coming from someone with short legs! Abeg swerve!
DeleteWomen are mostly guilty of body shaming. Live and let live
ReplyDeleteThe one that drives me crazy is women body shaming other women after child birth. They will be commenting on how big her stomach still is and even complain that she has not lost the baby fat. Its really sad considering the fact that they are women too and should know that for some people it takes a while for their body to snap back.
DeleteThe ones with the worst insecurities do this. They want to bully others but inside they wished they were like them.
ReplyDelete1000% correct
Delete@Olomo you are right! I used to body Shame friend then cause she was chubby and I was very skinny. How I envied her stature! I've learnt not to body Shame again and I still envy tall chubby girls.
DeletePeople need to stop this. To what gain.
ReplyDeleteShame to all the women who body-shame others. And kudos to all the women who are thankful to God and confident the way God made them;
ReplyDeletewithout resorting to bleaching or stuffing themselves with silicon/sachet water.
It is a balance
DeleteNot projecting insecurities on someone else versus deceiving the unhealthy (under/overweight)
Choice of words too matter
Kindness and boundaries are key!
When one person start a topic, all the rest of them yeyebrities will copy. Na body shaming dey reign now
ReplyDeleteSometimes people don't set out to body shame however some actions by people just end up putting them in a position to be body shamed.
ReplyDeleteA lady big in size walks into a toilet that the cleaner just finished washing, messed up the place and stepped out to wash her hands. I walked into the same toilet few seconds after and I saw the mess, I threw up immediately everything I ate that morning.
The other women that used the other toilets faced this big lady with insults. Anyone walking in would think she was insulted because of her size but rather she was the bully with no remorse.
Pitied the cleaner on how she will clean that place.
Why should anyone think she was insulted because of her size? Is someone extra deserving because of their size? That's just ridiculous.
DeleteWhat has size got to do with this your story now? Even your retelling is a bit somehow. What is ‘a lady big in size….’? Was it her size that messed up the toilet?
DeleteWhat I don't understand about this toilet ish is that there is water to flush, tissue and all but some persons are just plain Dirty. To even flush is a problem. That was how one left a used tissue on top of a clean tissue๐คฎ.Dirty people everywhere.
DeleteWahala
ReplyDeleteMamannuku whr u hide?
DeleteI'm waiting to see that one that tried body shaming me a while ago here. I wan to see it she will come and concur.
ReplyDeleteSo much for women supporting women
It's not only body shaming. I don't like all this hypocrisy. Which one come be body shaming? Mind shaming nko? Soul and spirit shaming nko? Too much English language! There is always a word for something. Women if you are fat and you see men going after slim girls, reduce your weight abeg if it bothers you and if you're slim and your breast is like agbalumu, wear push up bra or leave it like that. An unfortunate boy will still like your fat cellulite stretch marks or your small groundnut breast. Wetin again na?? All this big big Grammer.. assault, molest, body shame, assault shame. kini gaan?
ReplyDeleteStop being desperate to come off as funny. Read what you just typed again; are you making sense?
DeleteYou are so SHALLOW what has a man like your body parts got to do with this post. Una go dey write like swines. Why would stretch marks and small breast be a problem to any woman? Is there a uniformly agreed standard of beauty? Your comment reeks of gross stupidity!!
DeleteNa me dey by myself bodyshame myself because what is this horrendous tummy and Christian mother arm abeg ๐
ReplyDeleteI will say some of us did it then because we did not know the impact it had on them had on their confidence levels and emotions.
ReplyDeleteTheir silence or lack of response made us think it was OK to say big head, blacky, smallie, fatty, chicken legs, yam legs, orobo, lepa, big nose, big ears ( that's what I was called because my ears are big and I was onlow cut)
Abi if you don't like it, you will say STOP.
I once called a hostel mate "shorty". We were not even friends and I don't know why I did it.She stopped talking to me and won't even respond to my greetings.
I thought on it and remembered I called her "Shorty". I did apologise, but the damage was done ans she didn't talk to me till we graduated, she always looked away.
I was the wrong one .
I on my part, I have stopped if I can't compliment someone I keep quiet.
Be it a man, woman or child.
