Over 200 people were slaughtered between Thursday and Friday in Zamfara state. Yes, 1, 2, 3, 4,.......200, 201,.... people ( mostly women and children) were callously decimated by fleeing Fulani terrorists and there is calmness everywhere. It's just like any other everyday news. There's no anger from any quarters. It's as if the news is reading "200 fishes die in Zamfara" and not human beings. The very vulnerable- village women and innocent kids. All Buhari could tell them was they should be patient. Practically all blogs and media handles ignored the news. Do you know what they were all reporting? A mentally- challenged woman who was busy dishing out various sessions of "if you're not doing this, you will go to hell". That mad woman is now the trending topic in a country faced with countless challenging issues. A country where its citizens are sent to the great beyond by nihilists by the minute. We have all lost our humanity. The country has gone to the winds. Life is now meaningless in this society. We don't care when others are in pain. The only thing that matters to us is our individual happiness. Where then lies our superiority to animals? What distinguishes us from them if we can't sustain basic empathy?

How do you monitor your progress?
Or do you even monitor your progress at all?
Do you just wake up early and sleep late at night as a failure or as a success?
Is your age the only thing growing in your life?
Few years ago, I started making a list of things I want to achieve or need no matter how little. I always go back to it anytime I have a new thing to add and then tick off the ones that I have achieved or gotten.
There are sometimes I get things I didn't plan for or expected and I still go there to write it.
This way, I've been able to track my progress. It helped me realise that I'm not a failure afterall. My life took a new turn but this is something I'd write about some other time.
Before I started doing this, I would always sulk to myself and wet my pillow at nights with tears.
I felt like I was the least favored on earth. I would complain to myself and to God and beg him to change my situation. But all those while, there are things and changes that were occurring and still happening in my life that I didn't notice and they are changes that brought me to a better standing than I was earlier. I wanted a certain thing so badly that it made me blind to the miracles happening for me.

It is only God who can keep us from stumbling and making mistakes. His guidance ensures that we always come out right - and never disadvantaged. We begin to encounter errors when we try to do things in our own power.
