Phillips, who served as board chairman of the institution, also announced their (board) retirement in a statement signed by Tomi Borisade.
Part of the statement read, “The founding members of the Board of Governors including the founder and Chairman of the Board, Dr. O. Olumide Phillips, have decided to retire and pass the baton of change to a new generation of seasoned professionals who will run with the vision, leadership passion, commitment and values they have worked rigorously to establish.
“This will also enhance communication and effectiveness with the Parents Teachers Forum.”
The school added that it is working with the Lagos State Ministry of Education and has taken on board their guidance and suggestions concerning various areas of improvement.
They also promised to implement infrastructural changes to the hostels and school facilities to enhance safety and oversight within the school premises.
The management concluded by commiserating with the family of late Sylvester Oromoni, praying that the school never experience such an unfortunate incident again.

Mscheewwwww
ReplyDeleteIn my eyes, this is an advertisement to attract even more people to the school. I salute their business acumen turning this sad publicity to their advantage.
DeleteDouble mschew honestly.
DeleteTriple mtchew
DeleteWhat difference does this make, the family still owns the schools....Mr Phillips is already in his 70s and it was his kids running the school.
DeleteDowen still belongs to their family,if they like they should bring in 100 professionals to run it.
How does it make sense that this is an advertisement? Business acumen ko, business studies ni.
DeleteQuadruple mtchew
DeleteThey came to tell us the improvements to facilities and better management...what do you think they are trying to do? Of course they are telling the public to feel secure sending their wards to the school.
DeleteIn all I feel for the parents. Continue to rest in peace
ReplyDeleteSo it took the death of the boy to know that you all should/can hand over to younger people
DeleteThe problem in Nigeria
When the old do not know how to upgrade to kingmakers and advisers
Double mschewwwww
ReplyDeleteThe boy's case is really sad, many people failed the young lad. The school failed him,his parents too failed him. How on Earth will you travel that long distance with a sick child and you now kept him at home for what if I may ask.
ReplyDeleteIt should have been from school to the clinic, when in doubt or not sure of what happened the best place to still go is the hospital.
I'm just sad the boy is dead!
May his soul rest on!
Evercare Hospital one of the best hospitals in Lagos is a 5mins drive from Dowen College, i keep wondering why Sylvester wasnt taken there, perhaps his death wld have been avoided with timely medical intervention.
DeleteContinue wondering. Mschew.
DeleteThe day i made this comment some vultures here wanted to perch on me.
DeleteUntil you wear the shoes, be forming know all. Hindsight is always 20/20.
DeleteVultures only perch on... fill in the blank.
DeleteOK. But those who killed the boy should pay
ReplyDeleteWho killed the boy???
DeleteAnon, continue asking jamb question.
DeletePlease Stella dear bring us update on the ongoing corona inquest into the death of Sylvester.
ReplyDeleteSorry coroner inquest
ReplyDeleteMake they sha no open that school again, anybody wey wan step down us free to step o
ReplyDeleteHe displayed symptoms of an enlarged liver, it might have been unconnected to his physical assault. Parents should endeavor to prioritize their kids no matter what. Boarding schools are not where you ship your kids off to and live like they don’t exist.
ReplyDeleteKaren
Thank you. The boy had underlying symptoms. The parents left him at home for days b4 taking him to the hospital. He even travelled by road from Lagos to Warri. Haba. So who killed him???
Delete14.25 no matter how hard you try to twist the narrative, those boys who bullied this boy will forever have blood on their hands.
DeleteWow all these excuses I am seeing shows that you people have no remorse. All because you want business to continue. It is well. I still believe God is on the throne.
DeleteStep down on papers, whatever mehn!
ReplyDeleteMscheewwwww
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm....it is well
ReplyDeleteYimuu🙄🙄🙄🙄 we should now do what now... Will this bring back slyvester?
ReplyDeleteSo sad.... Poor boy. May his soul rest on. I don't even know who to believe anymore as everyone seem to be avoiding anything that has to do with the school. How sure are we that the man that testified wasn't paid off hugely to blame the family. I just hope this is an eye opener for parents and boarders. As for me, my son will grow up CLOSE to me. I have to be involved 100% in his upbringing.
ReplyDeleteStory , that school should be closed down for years.
ReplyDeleteDoes him stepping down makes any difference...abegi.
ReplyDeleteI wonder ooo
DeleteIt's quite saddening, I knew the poor boys case will end up like this, and one idiot on a silly blog(not sdk blog) was calling me biafraud because I accused their so called celebrities of keeping mute over a glaring incident that happened within their locality, because it wasn't sponsored by the God father's of Lekki toll gate soap opera, they will all reap from the seeds they sow.
ReplyDeleteI dare them to open that school, all this one they are changing board will not solve the problem, Ijaw nation are waiting patiently for them to open that school gate, then they will know how far
ReplyDelete👌
DeleteGod will judge all the people involved in covering up the case, thereby setting the killers free.
ReplyDeleteGOD's judgement is final
