This is because sometimes your spec is not who God wants for you.     Hmm i think marriage should be on 5 years renewal contract. If after 5 years you want to remain married you renew. If not everybody goes in peace and co parents in peace. 50/50 custody!

      Remember NEEDS are not static. They change. The needs of a woman/man in their 20s are different from their needs when they in their 30s, 40s, etc.

      So, adaptability is one of the essentials for a successful marriage.

      Parties in marriage should do what works for them within the bounds of divine and human laws. Not what the society demands of either of them.
