Police operatives and Vigilante in Oleh Division, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State have arrested a twenty-six-year-old man, Davidson Odigho at Irri roundabout in Oleh.
The suspect was arrested over the alleged failed kidnap attempt of a man who returned home from Europe.
This is coming as other members of the kidnap gang escaped from the scene of the incident in a white Hilux truck without a registration number.
The Police also recovered one AK47 rifle, nineteen(19) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one magazine, one pump action gun and twenty-six (26) live cartridges concealed in a sack bag and buried in the compound of the suspect.
It was learnt that a serious argument ensued between the suspected kidnappers in their attempt to kidnap the man who returned from Europe (name withheld) and it made residents alert the vigilante.
One of the suspects was arrested in a carefully planned operation led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO Oleh after he received a distressed call from the Vigilante.
The Delta State Police Command, CP Ari Muhammed Ali confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
The Police image maker said, “Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to being part of the gang that kidnapped the 63-year-old woman on 30/11/2021 and abandoned her when they noticed that the police were closing in on them.
According to DSP Edafe, “Suspect led police operatives to his house where one Ak 47 rifle, nineteen (19) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one magazine, one pump action gun and twenty- six (26) live cartridges concealed in a sack bag and buried in the compound were recovered.”
