Former Gov Lucky Igbinedions Mum Allegedly Killed By Housemaid

The Igbinedion’s household has been thrown into a mournful mood following the manner Maria Oredola Igbinedion, mother to two-time former governor of Edo State, Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion was killed.

THEWILL had exclusively reported that Maria from Usen in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, passed on, on Thursday December 2 at her home in Ugbo, Benin-City, the Edo State capital at the age of 85.

Unfortunately, the Octogenarian did not die of old age neither was she nursing an ailment. She died through the dastardly act of one of her maids employed to live with and attend to her needs.
The maid strangled her in her home, ransacked her home for jewelries and money and disappeared into thin air.

Maria had remained confined to a wheel chair since her 80th birthday, unable to move around, and just managing to stay alive.

She managed to survive the dark days of the Covid19 pandemic only to be killed by a hired hand entrusted to take care of her.

Efforts are being made to track and apprehend the maid who is reportedly from Cross River State.

Security forces have been activated to fish her out and the late woman’s children have vowed to stop at nothing to track her, even if it means going to her village to arrest her family members.

Maria was married to Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom as his first wife.

    1. RIP Ma.
Who did Lucky Igbinedion offend...first was the fatal accident of his son and nephew. Now the senseless killing of his aged mother just for valuables.

    2. Exactly! She's done for! Rip Mrs Igbinedion.

    3. They would be the beneficiaries of her crime. They should all face the consequences. That was how one of the servants murdered Professor Iluyomade just for money.

God help us in this country.

    4. Resist the urge to shalaye, what relevance does his son or nephew's death have to this matter on ground?

    1. But the girl didnt need to strangle a bed-ridden 80+year old b4 she can steal from her. Even if she was daft, she should know the family is an influential one and will surely find her.

This story...they should investigate more and be sincer with the report they put out to the public.

How are sure are they the girl was not kidnapped by the people who strangled the old woman? If she lived with her, does she need to ransack the how to find her valuables? Won't she quietly take them, stay back and fake robbery?

    2. That was my thought too, why would she ransacked her valuables since she was her live-in caregiver? She knew where valuables were kept. The girl might be innocent, they need to do thorough investigation, so that innocent person will not be punished. Rest In Peace mama.

  3. So sad. The maid should have just stolen the jewelry and left the woman alone. I don’t know if it’s greed that is causing this total disregard for life. That’s how one houseboy killed my Dad’s friend with pestle because of about 3m that the man withdrew from the bank that day and was never found till date.

  11. I don't get it. She is confined to a wheel chair. Why kill her when she is even defenseless?
The girl could have taken what she wants and disappear just like she did. Now she has blood. On her hands.

Do they even think? She probably needed time to escape so she had to resort to this because I cannot wrap my head around this.

I wonder how this househelp from hell was recruited into that home.

What kind of trouble has she put herself and everyone connected to her? 😟😞

Greed is bad oh, she would have gained more by taking proper care of the woman and doing her work diligently.

    2. True talk. My family gave my father's last male home-keeper N1million. He was there till my father's last days. And by the way (to show this woman's alleged wickedness is not tribe based) my faher's home keeper is from Cross River or Akwa Ibom State.

  16. Is like the maid no too get sense, u dare kill a matriarch of a known family and expect not to die with ur entire family? She would have just stolen whatever but never murder an old woman.

So they will arrest her family members because that is the Nigerian constitution or penal code?
If the family member is in the UK, they will go and arrest her?
They will pick up her sisters that are married or what?
What an outburst of shameful words from the Igbinedons.

  28. you guys think one sided goodness me, she is in a wheelchair for crying out loud the maid could have easily robbed her while sleeping and ran away. what if someone killed her and the maid, robbed her and buried the maids body in a shallow grave somewhere. knowing exactly how Nigerians think! now the poor maids family will end up being collateral damage, what a world we live in where matters are concluded before investigation. police should ping the maids phone to get her last location before it went off. that will help in this investigation.

  31. I don't believe this story cos I have witnessed first hand how rich people spin stories to make someone a scape goat. From the story above, the old woman was confined to a wheelchair and just managing to stay Alive, how can the maid kill her and steal from her? Does she need to strangle her before stealing her stuff? Can't she steal them when she is sleeping? Or steal them and remove her phone from beside her, put it off, drop it somewhere she cannot reach in another part of the house and run away? How are we sure the maid is even alive a well?
Working as a maid in Nigeria is very dangerous.

  33. Do they have cctv to come to that conclusion? I think she could steal right under the woman's nose without having to kill her and the woman wouldn't suspect.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Does this mean there are no security men in that house?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Strangled a woman on wheelchair to death because of jewelries, proper investigation should be carried out to avoid punishing an innocent person. May mama Igbinedon soul rest in peace.

    ReplyDelete
  36. She wasn't alone on that mission. She must have an accomplice .
The thought of killing alone? what gave her courage to do such,Mehn I can't deal. All these killers hope they will later become somebody's wife or husband if not caught?
