Odumosi said three of the five students mentioned by Sylvester before he died are already in custody and cooperating with the police in their findings.
Although Odumosu did not give the identities of those in custody he insisted that they are key suspects.
The police boss explained that the Command is set to go for the post mortem of the body in Delta state to ascertain the cause of death.
He assured that police authorities in both Lagos and Delta State are keenly interested in the outcome of the investigation to unravel the mystery behind Sylvester’s death.

*Are the alleged Bullies not too young to face the law? Can they be detained? Lawyers please tell us how this will go....
Make we see 'em.
ReplyDeleteStella those kids can equally father kids o.
Yes, you might be right that they can father kids but that doesn't rule away the fact That they will be charged as minors or juvenile not as adults.
DeleteI don't believe that, they must have picked some homeless kids from the streets and say its them
DeleteStory for the gods. Believe Nigerian police at your detriment.
Deleteknowing how rich and powerful their parents are, I don't believe this story for. They should tell the names of those arrested.
DeleteExactly my thoughts.
DeleteThe law states that a child above 7 years can be held criminally liable if they commit a criminal offence and also can be tried and detained as adults if the crime committed is murder which a a crime punishable only by death sentence.
DeleteJuniors case is a small fry because of his “ dying declaration” but Nigeria is a lawless and useless country, they will hide those miscreants because of money. If this crime was committed in another school by people of poor parents by now those kids would have been paraded all over the place.
I’m a lawyer in Nigeria and a doctor in the US and professionally both professions by law does not believe in spirituality but trust me we know and I have seen people go that route .in a case like this I’m sorry going spiritual solves all these wahala because those children committed that crime with intent knowing that what they planned doing to that innocent child would kill him or cause him a grievous bodily harm. You see their parents coming out also to spew trash, go spiritual and let them know how it feels please
You neither sound like a lawyer nor a doctor. You actually sound like a semi-illiterate. Quoting age of criminal responsibility as 7? What calibre of people do you think visit this blog?
Delete@ anon 21:17, did you even comprehend what anon 16:51 wrote before throwing insults s ? Gosh , If you read well and do your research you’ll understand fully what anon is trying to explain rather than you showing your trash ness and stupidity
DeleteCalibre ko, timber ni. Some of you know nothing but insulting others. Smh.
DeleteSome people can read but cannot comprehend.
DeleteThank God!
ReplyDeleteToo young bawl? Stella abeg no make person vex.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha thats the law for you. If you listen to some judgements enh, you won't blame people that take justice into their hands.
DeleteAnon 16:51,I said exactly what you typed here to someone today. We are getting to that stage where going spiritual to solve issues will be applied. Since people don't want to have sense again.
DeleteJuvenile....if found guilty. Good afternoon Stella mama
ReplyDeleteWhat are their names? Adonbilivit.
ReplyDeleteYes, they should name the ones they "arrest".
DeleteEach time l see this boys picture. It breaks my heart. What a horrible way to die
ReplyDeleteI feel the same.
DeleteJuvenile centers exist in Lagos state..
ReplyDeleteI bet that you have seen minors detained by Nigeria police before now.. Is it because they are ajebutter?
What kind of question is this? Were they too young to commit the act? Please I don't want to be vexed this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteBe calming down
DeleteThey should be in reformation home. They murdered sleep😞😞😞
ReplyDeleteWhich reformation (remand) home?
DeleteThe boys should be tortured to death and given chemical to drink too.
Let them and their parents have a taste of what they did to young Sylvester.
I don't trust the Nigerian police. Don't they have names?
ReplyDeleteThey are not too young, they are senior students which means they might be in the age range of 15-16
Stella, they should be tried as adults. Or remanded in a juvenile home till they're of age.
ReplyDeleteThe remaining two have been flown out of the country obviously. Nonsense
ReplyDeleteIf they like, they should be flown 'above' the country. That's where their NEMESIS is waiting for them.
DeleteStella🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😫... This ur question funny oooo.
ReplyDeleteThey can be detained and more reason why we have juvenile prison..
Lawyers can explain better
My opinion may be unpopular but I will say it still.
ReplyDeleteNo child is born wicked. None. These kids are minors.
There are homes where underaged househelps are tortured and maltreated. How about domestic violence? Absent parents? Physically present parents but ABSENT in connecting.
I hear comments like "children of nowadays". Who gave birth to them?
This is a sad sad situation. The system that created these hardened children will move on and are hoping these kids are sentenced to condemnation without redemption.
Yes, they should be punished. Yes, there should be consequences for actions. However, let us all learn from this. There are 'Sylvesters' all over the country cut short in their prime.
The system failed Sylvester. The Parents, school, staff, society. We are so concerned about image that we can ignore the fundamental problems.
Let change start with us in our homes, work, society. Say no to bullying.
Of course some of them have seen their parents with thugs so they will emulate their behaviour...The whole Nigeria needs overhaul...
DeleteThank you 13:57.
DeleteI concur with you. I made the same comment the last time I commented on this story. The culture is the problem. Everyone is a product of the culture they live in and until the culture of cultism is eradicated stories like these will forever continue. Who is visibly speaking up against these things? The body parts industry is still thriving. Men are still dropping off the bodies of women who died in bed with them along the side of the road. The value for life is cheap all over, not just in Nigeria, but until ppl really start opening their eyes to who they truly are and the world they truly live in incidents like these will continue. And folks must always remember that nobody is ever as good as they think they are, darkness is in everyone. And some parents even those with money create loveless, hellish homes for their children to live in, will their children turn out to be saints? This is not the first incident, neither the 100th, but this is the one that made it to the media. What of all the stories that did not make it to the media.
DeleteTrue, the world is a bad place but people who commit crime will still be held liable for their offence. This one is murder, there is a finality with death that you can't change, can't escape from. If he was badly beaten but survived, it wouldn't have made the news...
Delete13:57 please, forget this your perception.
DeleteSOME children were borne EVIL!
They and their parents failed themselves
No system failed them.
Was it any system that made CAIN murder his brother, ABEL?
Anon 20:03, word!
DeleteAnon 01:36, Yes. Eve and Adam disobeyed God first.
DeleteIt got worse from there.
And yes, Cain was punished for his deeds.
1.36 👌👌
DeleteExactly what I'm thinking, can they be detained?? Are they not too young to go to court?? Anyhow it is they must be punished.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the age of criminal responsibility in Nigeria? I am sure they are not too young. Yes, proceedings will be private and all those snapping of pictures like Chidinma won't be allowed because they are minors.
DeleteThey will be tried in court and If found guilty they will go to remand homes for children. But of course, this will not happen because their parents will press all the buttons.
You see hardened killers n ya calling them young...
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteU wrote a beautiful comment why delete it ?
DeleteStella there are some cases where Minors are tried as adults e.g In UK the trial of 2 young boys Robert Thompson and Jon Venables who killed a boy at the railroad tracks in 1993...But in this case, they will be tried at juvenile courts and taken to juvenile homes for rehabilitation..
ReplyDeleteI don't know about Nigerian law but there are crimes you commit as a minor and you get tried as an adult, severe crimes that mostly involves death. Eg the boy who went on a shooting rampage in his school killing four students and injuring more is being tried as an adult and he is only 15, his parents too have been arrested and charged with some kind of murder too for buying him the gun. I hope this children are used as an example to deter others from taking such route in the future. You have a choice to make but know that poor choices always have consequences
ReplyDeleteoh they've finally caught the irresponsible parents that got the gun for him. what were they thinking in the first place when they got him the gun😡😡😡
DeleteYes @kidjo trusts the American system, they are swift when it comes to crime. The parents were found hiding in an abandoned apartment, they were trying to flee to Canada. The school, the boy's parents and the friend that provided the apartment where they were hiding are all facing charges and jail terms. I just hope that all the people complacent in this boy's murder should be held accountable
DeleteAnon 15.31, that is a system where things work. No time for sme sme. The parents of the remaining 2 boys who have disappeared should be arrested. They must bring out their son, rubbish.
DeleteI don't believe them.
ReplyDeleteThey will not be taken to regular prison.
ReplyDeleteThey are not too young to face the law. They are over 14years. Afterall, all these useless boys that stab in the uk go to children's prison. They will be sent to correctional facilities for children where they rehabilitate them and their sentence is not usually long.
Thank God if the commissioner is saying the truth, but those boys must be punished..
ReplyDeleteTheir names,Nigerian police are not to be trusted
ReplyDeleteAll I know and want is Justice for the poor boy who went through pains that even an arm robber is not suppose to go through. Whatever way those kids can be tried I don't care as long as they sever the punishment of what they have done. Also the school management and house master shouldn't be left out period.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe they arrest anyone of them, no be naija, maybe they only asked them yo cone in the morning, and evening, then ho back home . I still wish all these is a bad dream, that sly is alive
ReplyDeleteAll I know is if they escape earthly judgment, what awaits them is greater than going to prison, their destinies is already stained
ReplyDeleteNigeria police, can I see they faces ?
ReplyDeletePlease I am asking for my neighbors daughter
'Can't remember which site I saw their haggard looking faces, displaying all their inner ugliness, two days ago.
DeleteAs in ehn anon, you could see the wickedness oozing from their pictures. They are done for!!
DeleteDoes juvenile system work in Nigeria? 😏 I just pray that Sylvester's case will not be swept under the carpet
ReplyDeleteIf you don't know, just say you don't know instead of asking rhetorical question. Sylvester will surely get justice.
DeleteIt does
DeleteThere's remand home in Port Harcourt, I don't know about Lagos but I believe there will be, these boys must enter there oh, we no wan hear story.
DeleteThere are two remand homes I know in Lagos (a) Near Isheri where they call Magodo Phase 2 (b) There is one at Oregun Kudirat Abiola Way to be precise...
DeletePhoenix there is one behind LUTH gate too, I've been there twice.
DeleteCan we have a proper investigation? There has been rush to judgement. The emotions are raw but clear heads must prevail. Let’s have an autopsy and then an inquest. The beating may have started a chain of evens that led to his death. At this point, I can only see a case of “Assault Occasioning bodily harm” for now. A nexus to his actual death has to be established.
ReplyDeleteAnd May I also point out that all those who are here screaming all sorts of judgement on these kids are themselves bullies . If you want to know what a bully look like, look in the mirrors.
Definition of Bully: To seek to harm, intimidate or coerce someone.
Are you the one that was claiming to be a "medical doctor" the other time? Ehnn!!
DeleteRush to judgment indeed.
Beating MAY have started? 🙄🙄😏
Maybe you are one of the parents of the bullies or a staff of the school. What sickness was he having before that led him to hospital? He was beaten mercilessly and intentionally trampled by 6 people and you are still talking nonsense. Respect yourself oh!!!
DeletePrecisely the point I was making. Both Anons are bullies without realizing it. Can you not have a conversation without trying to intimidate or make unnecessary assumptions?
DeleteI am neither a parent of the kids nor a doctor. My point is that, in the rush to judgement we may be absolving the hospital while focusing on the bullies. Even if you jail the kids for life and the hospital, which may be culpable, is not punished, that is not justice.
While we may be justifiably enraged by the actions of the bullies, we need to ask questions about the treatment he received
16.33 are you minding the hypocrite trying to disguise.
Delete17.42 please leave that grammar, a kid has lost his life here and you are busy making postulations. Would you write this same thing if it was your child???
DeleteWe will continue to face the BULLIES, deal with it.
17;42,if those useless children had left the little boy alone, nobody would be talking about hospitals. When they shoved corrosive substance into somebody's mouth, what were they expecting?
DeleteI don't believe this police custody shit...we need to see pics
ReplyDeleteVery good, the first step in the right direction, they shouldn't let the others escape, this will serve as a deterrent to other bullies, nonsense.
ReplyDeleteOkay. But why not name the ones you have with you already so we will know the ones yet to show up? I heard they were six of them btw. It will be more transparent if you list them out.
ReplyDeleteStella they are not too young to be prosecuted, in Western world such kids are to be tried as an adult when the offence committed is the type that live was lost .
ReplyDeleteI’m surprised anyone can say are they not too young to be detained? Anyone that says that should be detained as well. Too young to be detained but not too young to bully to the point of death? If they didn’t deem it fit to pity that boy at any point, then they deserve no ones pity in this matter. Whenever the temptation comes upon you to say ha they’re just kids, go watch that boys video again and remind yourself that he was also just a kid, then choose which kid your sympathy lies with!!!dammit!
ReplyDelete👌👌
DeleteHonestly, I have no pity for those horrible boys. Too young to face the law but not too young to kill, vicious rascals.
DeleteThey should stop Senior and junior of a thing in secondary school make everybody dey him lane and let the teachers do their job
ReplyDelete
