STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
PREGNANT WITH THE FIFTH CHILD.
Stella o! Compliment of the season.
Stella o! Compliment of the season.
I recently got a beautiful job in Canada, and our family visas have been processed. Even flight tickets booked for me, my husband and our 4 kids, (boys and girls). I am overjoyed and we have been celebrating. Now the issue is that I just discovered that I am pregnant.
My family planning failed me.
I have been confirmed pregnant.
I am very confused right now. We don't need more children, we just want to go there, work and have a good life. I am very confused how and don't know how to go about it.
Please I will need timely advice.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Stella, I am healthy and had spontaneous vaginal birth for all my babies. Na where we dey celebrate o, I donno that it will shift something ๐. I wasn't thinking of carrying it at first, I just missed my period. I was considering how I won't be allowed to do much work for the next 2years or so, considering occupational health rules there, maternity leave and being away from work so early, how my employers may not be expecting me to be pregnant, and how I may not be very agile in my first few weeks at work. Also, I was happy that I am done having kids. You know that feeling? Trying to get back in shape and all of that.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations ma!!
DeleteIn my husband's voice "baby let us just carry it, it has already entered๐๐๐๐.
Me๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Congratulations
DeleteCongratulations ma'am. God knows best. You will be glad in the end
DeleteCongratulations!!,I wish you safe delivery.
DeleteMadam truth of the matter is, you didn’t plan well. When you get to Canada please go for a proper birth control planning like the shot or IUD. It won’t be easy with a new born plus 4 kids in a new country and hopefully you won’t have postpartum depression. Wishing you all the best and praying you get enough support there(church, friends you know there, etc) It’s not like Nigeria at all. And no don’t abort the baby.
DeletePoster it is well with you
Delete๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃStella just sounded like some of those nurses in general hospitals.Congrats poster๐๐,if there's nothing to be concerned about,go ahead and have your baby,I don't see any problem here.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations poster. It's the Lord's doing
ReplyDeleteGods plan is different from yours, every child is a blessing so go ahead and have your baby
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
Lucky child and Canadian citizen in the making.
ReplyDeleteIt's well poster . Just brace up and face your fear.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations dear poster. I'm not an advocate for abortion and never will I be but I'm going to be real with you. You need to braze yourself because training 5 kids in Canada is not a joke. I don't understand what Stella means by you will key in the system with your pregnancy but I can categorically tell you that the only thing about birthing that child in Canada is that he will be a citizen before you all. If you reside in Ontario, be ready to use all your income to pay child care for your kids that are below 4(school age). You will not pay child care the first year because you didn't have income in Canada the year before but in the second year be ready to pay an awful lot. This is not to discourage you but to prepare you because I myself didn't know this. I have a 2.5 year old born in Europe and an infant born here and this is my second year in the country so we are paying child care through our nose, with virtually no savings. The government is giving both kids some money but not up to a quarter of what we pay for child care and my spouse and I both have good jobs.
ReplyDeleteSome Nigerians are able to cut corners either by one of the parents not working so that their family income will be low and they get more from the government or by not reporting their full income which to me is "fraud".
I lived in an European country for 7 years, had a great job and everything but we decided to change base so I have seen both worlds and I'm telling anyone who wants to come to Canada to make sure their kids are at least school age or almost so they don't spend virtually all their savings on child care especially for those planning to come to Ontario. Good luck
Thanks for this, let her be prepared.
DeleteThen it's safe to abort, poster forget all this congratulations ooo because when it hit you hard, they won't be there to cheer you on, remember you are going to a place you haven't been before, abort, go there, settle inn and then you can get pregnant again if you so want, above all, do what will give you peace of mind
DeleteDon't abort anything oooooh
DeletePoster, if you are able to work a new job, home school the remaining 4 kids while being pregnant and then with a new baby, then keep the baby. Half of the time, the kids are back home once there is a covid outbreak and with the omicron variant, it is getting much worse. How are you going to cope? Are you going with a nanny or is your husband going to stay at home. Keeping a pregnancy in your current situation is a sentimental decision, not rational, at all.
DeleteThe employers will be disappointed too. Wtf. They may not renew your visa, go and safely abort. Except your hubby will be full time dad
DeleteAll these people congratulating you will not be there with you ooo. Be wise.
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best..But pls don't abort the baby. God will see you through
ReplyDeleteDon't abort anything oooooh
ReplyDeleteCongrats
ReplyDelete๐๐๐ Stella!!!
ReplyDeletePoster just believe it is God's timing. Please keep the baby.

ReplyDeleteI live in Ontario and its not as bad as Anonymous 17:55 wrote. Please dont abort that baby, the child is part of the blessing package God sent your way this period. In Ontario, the law covers you, and as long as its a permanent job there are no repercaussions for coming into a new role with pregnancy. Marternity leave is 1yr and you are entitled to the full year with pay. Regarding childcare, your combined income with your spouse will determine what you'll pay as daycare fees in Ontario, and believe me when I say yours is a large family so you may pay next to nothing for daycare per child. My spouse and I have combined annual income of $150,000 and have a child in daycare. Ontatio govt subsidized the fee and we pay just $2 per day which is about $40/$50 per month.
ReplyDeleteThe only challenge I envisage is taking care of 4/5 kids by yourself without a maid because you may have been used to housemaids in Nigeria. Some with good paying jobs get a nanny but if your adult kids are 8yrs & above you'll survive. I wish you all the best, and congratulations! Life in Canada is beautiful if you have a good job.
This is Anonymous 17:55 again, please do not get me wrong, I am not directly or indirectly advising poster to abort her child, No! I am only telling her what I wish someone had told me about child care in Canada. My toddler's child care fee is $66/day while it was subsidized heavily his first year and infant pays $99. Yes, maternity leave is 1 year or as long as 18 months but you failed to mention that Ontario will stop subsidizing your child care 5 weeks after the birth of your latest child because you are considered to be available and at home to take care of your children.
DeleteAnd more often than not once you are on maternity leave, you are entitled to half of your income and not full income which is paid by the government and not your employer.
To the poster, it is doable but just will be tough until the kids start school, a lot of people are surviving this and so will you and it will only be easy once you and your partner braze yourselves. I gain nothing in discouraging you and also know that this is Canada, there are laws so being pregnant on day one of your job isn't exactly anyone's business just do your best and leave no room for complaints from your employer.
This is such a strange chronicle. You have been pregnant four whole times in the past, now your family has decided to make a major move across the other side of the world and it never occurred to either of you to perhaps use protection from pregnancy until you get there and see the lay of the land? Neither of you thought about that? You must have been planning for months maybe even a year or more for this move.
ReplyDeletePray to God to take back the pregnancy if you are absolutely sure this is not for you. Invest in some form of contraceptive method to use going forward. Cost of living is high in Canada depending on where you are going. And no matter how big your money look in Nigeria the exchange rate gives you peanuts in return. I hope your husband got a job lined up too. Remember that all jobs come with a three months probationary period, they can revoke the job at any time within three months if you share the pregnancy with them too soon. So you may want to tell them later on, like seven months in, especially if you will be the sole bread winner of the family.
But she clearly said in her chronicle that her contraceptive failed her, by the 'shifting' word she used, I'm guessing an IUD. As good as they are I preventing pregnancies, they are not 100% foolproof, only complete abstinence is, but she is married.
DeletePoster I wish you all the best in whatever decision you make honestly.
