Freedom of speech is a luxury better imagined in some Countries....
A popular Burmese actor, singer and model was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment with hard labour on Monday for taking part in pro-democracy protests.
Paing Takhon, 25, was arrested during a dawn raid at his mother’s home in Yangon in April after joining demonstrations against the military junta that seized power from the elected government in February. About 50 soldiers took place in the raid, according to the actor’s sister.
He had also posted about his support for democracy to his more than a million social media followers, including images of the deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi. His social media accounts were deleted after his arrest.
