DeleteWhat is a massacre actually? An indiscriminate and brutal slaughter of many people. As a verb, Oxford describes it as say: thousands were brutally massacred by soldiers. A massacre entails the brutal killing of many many people. In hundreds or thousands, perhaps even more. The leaked, porous, unsigned report of the Endsars panel in Lagos describes the events of October 20th, 2020; as one that can be ‘likened’ to a massacre. A legal luminary, AI Awokoya Esq. reflects on the lekki protests and defines that the panel’s findings were purely anecdotal, and devoid of any scientific or evidentiary findings. Evidences given by a coroner and a forensic expert were thrown out, because of prejudicial dispositions and lack of better judgement. At first DJ Switch counted 78 bodies, CNN pruned it down to 56, BBC went for 38, feminists agreed on a 23, and last but not the least, judging from the flow of events; the panel says 9 bodies. This 9 bodies report has been punctured, punctuated and ruptured by atleast 5 to 6 names, which makes it quite shaky and perhaps, not factual. The whole idea of sticking to a make believe massacre that is claimed to have taken place can also be likened to ferrying water in a basket, to fill an over head tank! It just isn’t adding up and here’s why:

Solomon was again listed as one of those killed at the massacre, after appearing at the panel to give accounts of the massacre. Another Kolade Salami, who was killed by SARS operatives in 2019, appears to have been resurrected and massacred at Lekki. Another Chiemezi Natah, killed at Somolu police station by a stray bullet on the 7th of December, 2020; is also listed to have been massacred at Lekki on the 20th of October, 2020. There are names like Wisdom, Jide, and Tola, who do not have surnames and cannot even be identified or narrowed down to particular individuals. We also have a Folorunsho Olabisi, whose corpse was claimed to have been deposited at St. Nicholas Hospital; whereas the hospital had clarified that it had no mortuary facilities. Folorunsho was also peddled to have been killed at Lekki. The panel report claims that 9 dead bodies were deposited in 36 morgues. It means that each body was put in 4 different morgues concurrently? How does that happen?

Some were roasted and eaten in other states. No mention was made about the billions in destroyed properties, or any compensation whatsoever for the victims. The saner climes we profess so much love to, have Steve Bannon, former Whitehouse Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor to the President, indicted for his role in the attack on Capitol Hill. Numerous other arrests of the players have been made as they face prosecution. Is the Lagos Endsars panel giving amnesty to the destructive youths that nearly burned down Lagos?
The report is leaked, porous, filled with mistakes and perhaps a protesters’ version of it. It is more than half way to go as the Lagos state govt is still to examine the document and release a white paper on its findings and course of action. The Federal Government has also told the US Secretary of State that it was awaiting the actions of the states, regarding the events of the endsars protests and the unfortunate loss of lives and property. I cannot be averse to finding justice to whoever was killed extra-judicially, but we must do it right, without killing ‘witnesses’, resurrecting bodies and tagging them ‘Lekki deceased’, all because our maniacal agenda must ‘agend’! Nigeria just got knocked off the religious violators list by the US. Massacre was the magic word to peddle the narrative of a dictatorial government that has no respect for human lives; and meanwhile, the government’s by the book and by the laws’ code of conduct, might just be reeling it into more trouble than desired. Hitting the bigger enemies of state harder, might just be the antidote to the smaller miscreants; who think that toying with the destiny of a nation of millions, to enable their foreign citizenships and other junketing agenda, is a welcome sport.

They think if you have the mansion, the Mercedes and the money, you're living the good life.
But goodness isn't about feeling good, looking good or having goods. It's about being good and doing good. And just like we need a clock to tell time and a ruler to measure distance, we need a universal standard for determining goodness. And we have one. God! 'Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways' (Psalm 25:8 NIV). Without a universally accepted standard for goodness, it becomes a grey area, a matter of opinion. Hitler thought annihilating the Jewish race was 'a good thing'. Suicide bombers think killing innocent human beings 'is a good thing'. And such thinking can't be countered with a simple, 'That's not good.' What's to keep a Hitler or a suicide bomber from saying, 'That's just your opinion'?
The word 'good' stems from an old English word with the same connotation as God. It literally means 'to be like God'. Goodbye is the shortened phrase 'God be with ye'. So, the universal standard for goodness can only be decided by one who is universally good, and that one can only be God. Think about it!

ReplyDeleteI just realised that no matter situation we find ourselves we need to be grateful to God. When there is life, there is hope. I was deeply hurt about the rape incident that happened to me. I went to beautiful Nubia's concert yesterday and he advocated forgiveness that we need to forgive those that have hurt us in the past. I went home feeling relaxed on my bed even though I was angry with with God bcus I don't have a husband yet and I will be clocking my late 20s by next month. I was checking my phone gallery when I stumbled on my sis pictures with a guy who is our family friend. The guy's name is david, he is 29, he has been looking for job for the past 6 years while I on the hand work with d Nigerian civil service, David had a great business idea his parents were top immigration officers, they keep changing cars with out giving this boy money to set up a business,David became depressed, when his parents left for work, he consumed sniper and he died at UCH. Now the parents are feeling sad. They have 3kids and one is gone. Can a dead man/ Woman get married? Or work in an oil company. Let's be grateful to God.

DeleteAlthough I think being unmarried by a certain age isn’t enough to warrant that anger, I’ve come to realize that it’s not until something very devastating happens to you before you know you’re going through trauma because people are different, I’ve sha learnt not to gatekeep occurrences that could or could not pass as traumatic.
Please, while you are working through your issues, learn to have empathy, your comments 9 out of 10 times are very very harsh and inappropriate. Speak to others the words you would want spoken to you.

DeleteThe full edition will not be able to be installed cos the phone wasnt built for such;so kindly Google the phone you are using to check if it's a "Go Edition" or you paste the model here let me tell you if it is..

DeleteYes Awele;except you take it to a tech guy to upgrade the firmware to a higher OS(operating system)..but even at that there are still limits to apps that the new OS can install,so it’s best you save your money and buy a new phone that runs on at least Android 10.0 and above..
