ReplyDeleteOnce I didn't find the purse in the church, I called my husband and told him and he said he would try to contact immigration so we can see how soon I can get my card. Inside the uber back home, I was just stylishly crying. I kept asking God what I had done that he was punishing me for. Got stuck in traffic because of some yeye bicycle whatever they were doing and they had block road for hundreds of bicycles to pass. As if I wasn't having such a bad day already, I had to have my husband call the creche that I was going to be about 10 minutes late. I was very angry with myself cos they told us from the beginning that it wasn't allowed.
On my way back home, a friend of mine had called me because she wanted to come over to stay with me at home because she had some huge family issues back in Nigeria and didn't want to be home alone with her thoughts and her husband was out with his boss and colleagues. She had been crying all day and just wanted things to take her mind off the crying. Very horrible horrible issue I don't think it's right to get into. I totally welcomed the idea of her coming over so I could also briefly take my mind off my missing purse.
So when my husband got home from work (they've resumed partial working from office), he said we should go make a police report that night as we needed to start the process of getting a new residence card ASAP.
After my friend left, I put Alex on my back and off we went to the police station. This was after 10pm. On the way, my husband said 'you know our trip is as good as cancelled abi' and I begged him not to say that because I wanted to hope for something positive to happen. He just sighed.
That reminds me, I had earlier told my friend that I'm sure my husband wants to lash out at me for misplacing my purse but because of the kind of person he is, he's doing everything within his power to calm me down and not make me feel even worse than I already felt. When he got home from work sef, he just drew me into his arms and kept saying the famous warri 'do' (sorry)
Sha sha, we got to the police station and we spent over two hours making a police report. They made me cancel my ATM cards and I even had to pay 16 euros for replacement of one of the cards. It wasn't funny at all. We did the report and went back home. I was feeling so so low and knew I wasn't going to get any sleep that night as I would probably be crying all through.
My husband took Alex to change her diaper and I just sat on the bed and started saying these exact words.
'God, this one pass me, pls help me, this one pass me, pls help me'. In my mind I was hoping and praying that someone calls me the next day to tell me they found my purse and kept for me.
Ah ah if it is here its not such a big drama, you cancel over the hotline you will be sent a new one at home within two days.....

DeleteSo as I was saying those words, I started walking up and down the apartment. Then I walked into our spare bedroom absentmindedly and there on the bed, lying in plain sight was my purse. I screamed!
ReplyDeleteGosh! I screamed so loud, my husband left Alex briefly on the changing table to check why I screamed, I had to send him back to go get my daughter. I clutched the purse and started crying, like real ugly tears, you know the type they cry at burials. I cried and cried then I started laughing. My husband just came and gave me a very huge hug and joined me on the floor that I was sitting and laughing.
Fuck! My ordeal was over. I had spent so much money that day for a purse that was in my house all along. I didn't even care about the money, I was just so happy and relieved that I have found my purse.
All through today, I was just kissing the purse from time to time saying 'you beautiful little thing' (yes, I don kolo)
So after I had found the purse and all the celebration was over and we were on the bed lying down to sleep, my husband now said 'shey when I complain about how disorganised you are and how u never put anything back in their right places, you think I dunno what I'm saying abi'. I laughed and told him what I had told my friend about how I was sure he was itching to blast me and he told me I had no idea how hard he had to hold back himself after I called that I had lost my purse.
Disorganised or not, e no concern me, I have sha found my purse and I have jejely removed my residence card and Alex' citizen card from it. I refuse to go through this torture ever again.
the residence card and citizen card can be replaced nau, so why all the drama? na wah ooooo

Pls cheer up. Pretend like your husband does not even exist. Do your normal duties to him and use the rest of your energy to make money and make yourself happy. Go to eateries and buy icecream and burger, sit down there and eat, drink yoghurt. Eat plenty fruits and vegetables. When at home, do your normal chores, buy power bank and data, download movies and watch. Buy a good bodycream and shine, make good hair, change your wardrobe, look nice. Attend neighbours' parties and catch fun. If you have kids, play with them, laugh with them and watch cartoons together, if he doesn't allow you watch it on TV, watch it on your phone with your kids. Take them to church, join your town or village meetings in the state where you live. All the above requires money. Look for legitimate ways to make money if you don't have already. One year after the #EndSARS protest during which some activists, Newspapers and international groups claimed that there was a massacre at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos, there is still no evidence of large scale killing at the scene to qualify the raid as massacre, Daily Trust reports.
