The event had in attendance the Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo; Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele; Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami; among others.
The country’s apex bank had said the e-Naira is a culmination of several years of research work in advancing the boundaries of payments system in order to make financial transactions easier.
CBN noted that the launch of the digital currency is a major step forward in the evolution of money.
The bank vowed to ensure that the e-Naira, like the physical Naira, is accessible by everyone.

ReplyDeleteThe app is available on play store and other platforms. Downloaded already by millions, but people are having difficulty registering. From all I have read the rejection of BVN is a common problem. The app is not accepting Email addresses which is important in registering. It is either most people did not include their their Emails when they registered for BVN or the app is dysfunctional. Hopefully in the weeks/months ahead they would have cleared the errors.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about?

ReplyDeleteE-NAIRA IS NOT A CRYPTOCURRENCY
ReplyDeletee-Naira is not a cryptocurrency.
It is the electronic version of the same paper naira you spend everyday. It is issued by CBN, the monetary authority in Nigeria.
e-Naira has same value as the paper naira. You're obliged to accept currencies issued by CBN, but not crypto currencies.
Therefore, you can choose to reject crypto currencies as a medium of exchange.
So many misinformation is going-on on social media since the e-Naira was formally launched today.
Let this be clear and let no one misinform you on this.
The people that couldn't maintain or add value to naira curreency mtewcch na here we dey.
