She represented Kenya in the 5,000m women’s finals at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in Japan.
Her death was confirmed by Barnaba Korir, the chairperson of Athletics Kenya in Nairobi Region.
In a statement , he wrote, “Athletics Kenya are distraught this afternoon to learn about the untimely death of World 10,000m bronze medalist Agnes Tirop.
Tirop was found dead at their home in Iten after she was allegedly stabbed by her husband. We are still working to unearth more details surrounding her demise.”

You guys sometimes sound very pathetic, in Al I could gather in the new she was killed in her home!!! Her home, not their home. She lives in a high altitude area that most top world athletes live in which by what I deduce was purchased by her. Some men are so evil that by just getting entangled with them is a death warrant!!! They will haunt you down and kill you than let you move on!!! I would rather have relocated, if I were in her shoes. RIP young lady.

ReplyDeleteSpousal (male or female) violence should not be trifled with. Most times, it gets worse. Every victim should take appropriate legal action, which may include leaving such marriage.
ReplyDeleteBut the really sad cases are those rare first and only deadly attacks without any warning. Against such, nobody can say a spouse refused to heed warning(s).
