Hailings!!!
I attended a wedding at Ijebu Ode(Ogun State) on 9th of October 2021 which I was the best man of the celebrant. Got to his place on Friday so as not to be delayed or get stuck in gridlock because the road from Ibadan to Ijebu Ode is busy these days due to maintenance and some repairs going on.
On Saturday morning, I was told program will start by 10am because the Alfas will come for Nikhai (Muslim marriage proceedings) first before proper engagement will take off( The groom is a Christian while the bride is a Muslim). On getting to the hall, waiting for the Alfas to come so we can kick off ,then we decided to just chill in one corner and take two bottles of ENIKENI each(Heineken), so as not to make our face friendly if not, those Alfas might just collect all our money including my transport fare back to Ibadan sef because some of them are too money conscious.
They arrived at 11:00am on dot, so we thought the program will kick off ,then they s ENT someone to call the groom, which I followed him immediately but the person who came to call him said they need only him but I refused and thank God ,he also refused to go alone so we both went to see the Alhaji abi Imam that came then problem started. They said, they can't do any NiKhai because their daughter is a Muslim and him is a Christian and if he wants them to continue with this program he will have to put 150k in the envelope.
All these while, I kept mute, didn't even say anything, was rehearsing how I will kill them with words, so we called the attention of the bride's father, he came and we told him what they said, he pleaded but they never listened and they also .asked him if he is a true Muslim because a true Muslim will never allow such to happen. That was where I became mad at them, I gave it to them in full but to my surprise, the Alfa slapped me all because he thought he was older than I do, yes I agreed but what right does he have to do such, my people, I removed my agbada ooo before I know, boys has gathered and we planned beating the six of them who came but the groom and the bride stopped us by their tears then the two family sent them away and agreed on only engagement. That was how we closed the chapter on Saturday but I am still feeling the slap.
My question is, is it a sin for a Muslim to marry a Christian? Where is it written in the bible or Quran?
Why is it that religious leaders have turned us to be fools?

INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD
I am transitioning my first child from home schooling to a regular school. He has a sleep disorder, he is awake in the night and asleep in the day. He has his good days, a lot of it, but I have been having a hard time making him sleep at night for a long stretch of time.
A specialist advised we put him in regular school that is equipped to handle him and allow him learn at his own pace. I have to hang around so I can take him back home as soon as he is tired until he gets used to spending all day in school.
This is to give him a solid routine and help him recognise day and night as it should be.
I have reduced screen time and I am also working on a solid bed time routine. He showers, changes into his pyjamas, we read a book together and I tuck him in bed with his favourite cartoon character bedsheet. I am supposed to wait it out and keep him there no matter what but because he eats mainly at night, we end up getting out of bed.
He is usually super active by then, on a good day he goes to bed between 2 am and 4 am on bad days he goes to bed between 7 am and 11 am.
We have very good days though. They keep me going and help retain my sanity. I am hoping that introducing him to regular school will work and solve his sleeping issues once and for all.
Your child is like this because of how you made it.....He adjusted to the times you let him sleep and the times you let him stay awake....You have to change it for him......And stop hanging around him in school, gosh!!!
If he is too young to be in school, why not leave him at home while you work on changing his sleeping and eating pattern? Less stressful if you ask me.

See, start by making wake time 9am every morning, no matter when he went to bed. Keep him awake until 12 pm or 1pm, let him nap for about 2 hours at most and wake him up again. Then let him sleep from 7pm. Na hum go dey find bed.

My daughter wanted to do that time thing for me when we came back from my masters abroad due to time difference.
I just enforced the routine for a week and that was it.

DeleteIt could be a disorder. But I know a parent that enable such behaviour. He was always sleep at school and during day time. I advise she try and keep him awake. Take him outside for outdoors, play with bricks building castle and doing hide and seek. Once it's 6pm eat dinner and take bath. Go to bed, read story and take warm milk. Then put off every light. I mean every single light.

ReplyDeleteStella, I disagree with you on the sleep pattern ish. My girl only sleeps anytime from 1am, no matter what I do. Even when she doesn't sleep throughout the day, if 1am never knack, she no go sleep. I turn off all lights, discourage screen time before 12 midnight, give her a shower, feed her well and put her to bed. For where? She'll keep singing, jumping or moving all over the bed until anytime from 1am. Then she wakes up latest 12noon. A few times, it may even reach 1pm sef. She'll probably change when she starts school.
ReplyDeleteWake her up before 12:pm pls. Even if you are not working or you don't go anywhere, pls change that pattern for her so that she will get used to it before she starts school. You can wake her up by 9:am or 10:am for a start
