  2. I did not wear engagement ring until a few weeks to our wedding. Engagement is not marriage.
A lot of girls attach more importance to it unnecessarily. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

  11. Engagement ceremony used to be the day before the wedding. It’s western culture to engage for a long time or kneel to propose. Mine did not kneel down for me 30 years ago. All the things I read now were foreign to most Naija culture. Engagement ring and wedding band come so close to each other that there is no time in between. Maybe because I’m not a shopper🚢🏾‍♀️🚢🏾

    1. Tell them ohhhh. Long engagement is western culture, and since we like to copy them in every way,it is causing a lot of problem. The thing we do not realise is that they have a system that supports them when things go wrong.
My friend decided to teach her husband some sense in Canada. She moved into a specialised hospital for mental health treatment and just to get away from the guy, because the man was abusing her emotionally.
You would have expected that she will finish what she started by leaving the guy or at least attend marriage counselling together and see a way to improve or amend their relationship. By the time HER family shouted on her that no one divorces in their family, she went back home to the guy- nothing changes up till now.
I know the story is out of scope but sometimes, I feel bad for us black ladies for the amount of pressure being put on us
