The University of Benin has been closed after the Students had a peaceful protest which saw them close down the Lagos - Benin expressway.
The press release says the Students are being sent home to avoid hoodlums hijacking the protest...
''The Vice Chancellor has reviewed the agitation by a section of the students' body today Tuesday 14th September, 2021.
After due consultation, and in the overall interest of the general students' body, the Vice Chancellor has, on behalf of Senate, approved the closure of the University with immediate effect.
This is based on security reports to avoid the students' action being hijacked by hoodlums; and thereby prevent any form of breakdown of law and order within and outside the campuses of the University.
Accordingly, all students are to vacate the hostels and the University premises *not later than 12 noon on Wednesday 15th, September, 2021.*

ReplyDeleteIt is shameful that every time a woman is given an opportunity to rule in this country, it’s as though the worst of bad leadership attributes are manifested. Why close down the school when people’s time have been wasted due to the pandemic. Mind you, the increment is on late school fees payment and instead of the usual 10k in second semester, Aunty increased it by 20k in first semester. So the students had the rights to protest.
ReplyDeleteI am a woman and I support women leadership and also discourage this kind of stereotype judgement but this time, I’ll just say it as I feel. She even declined press briefing and negotiations with the protesting students. Meanwhile, this increment was done with prior press release hence, everyone was taken unaware. I left home yesterday for work with my baby to take to crèche but we went very late because one woman choose to be hard heartedly
Do students now pay semester fees? When I studied in uniben, fees were paid once a session. Please explain how fees are paid now, I do not understand.

Fees are paid per session and normally there’s always increments on late payments. This increment is done in second semester whereas, now they are increasing it when they are still in first semester

ReplyDeleteSame protest is brewing in UNICAL as the female VC Prof.Florence Obi just arbitrarily increased the school fees from 37-40k to 64k for the new section.Meanwhile returning students are yet to resume whereas new students resumed 13th of september 2021 and have started paying the school fees.
