Even fiction, poetry, music etc. The main challenge of art is to take something fictitious and make it seem very real. If people think Patience Ozokwor is a wicked woman or Kanayo is a ritualist then it means they interpreted their roles perfectly. Some people think Chimamanda is Kambili or Olanna but she is none of the characters. Or even paintings that look like pictures. Art has to appear real. But doesn't make it real.

It's called fiction Oga. Movies, books, poem, the list is endless, some are fictitious because if you say they are real stories, then you can be sued for defamation of character and all what not. Father Abraham, God's good friend, told lies that Sarah wasn't his wife, his son Isaac did the same thing. No one can say what's in the mind of God and let him who thinks he stands take heed let he falls. Read up God's Generals. Not all that say Lord, Lord,will enter into the Kingdom of God and do remember that Jesus said prostitutes and task collectors are making their way into the Kingdom..... Rahab was a prostitute yet in the land of Jericho, there must have been pastors, reverends all manner of 'holy' people yet non of them was sensitive enough to see and understand what God was about to do. Las Las, na God know who go enter heaven so while we run the race, may he help us make it.

ReplyDeleteHe is free to prevent comedy shows from his church pulpit or in his church's premises. Personally, I do not support comedy from a church pulpit. But this condemnation is too wide.
ReplyDeletePlease you guys should take it easy on him. I'm sure he didn't mean it in a harsh way. He was probably also laughing while saying it just to pass a message across to his congregations. The message must have been taken out of context.
