DeleteCaring. My Grandmother was sooo caring. I guess I can say she instilled that in me. She cared a lot about people. She didn't have to know you to show you love. She taught our house helps how to read, and write. She always used our books to teach them, and she gave them homeworks. π. She always told them they were not going to be helps the rest of their lives. May she continue to rest in peace. π♀️
ReplyDeleteMy grandpa, God rest his soul, amen. He was too good. Before he died, he would come to Akure for his pension and whenever he comes, he brings lots of yams, pears and everything you can think of. He never ate alone, He would pack all those things from his farm and walk all the way home cos he hated bikes. And at night when he prayed, he starts with mentioning all his children and all his grandchildren one after the other to pray for us all every night before he slept. He did all this kneeling down. A dedicated Catholic he was. He spoke European English cos he worked with them back in his youth. When he became too old and started messing himself, I couldn't help it. I naturally get irritated easily that I could start throwing up but with him, I cleaned him with so much joy without blinking cos he deserved more. I miss him so much and I know he's resting with the Lord. Everyone knew him for him openness and truthfulness. Rip Pa Ezekiel.

ReplyDeleteMy loving Dad. God rest your soul Palee. π
This is a sad post.
ReplyDeleteI remember an aunt of mine. The woman lost her husband when she was barely 30, she suffered to train her two kids, put them in the best primary and secondary schools and was determined to train them till they finish university and get jobs. Then one day we heard she had TB, it was mismanaged and she died in her early 40s when the kids were still in secondary school. It was so painful. It was then that I knew TB can kill just like that.

ReplyDeleteAfter his dead, I dreamt every night how a tall man with with cloth, will always bring him for me to see him, he will drop him with me and stand outside while I play with him. And when I wake up, I will be so broken. Until I prayed to God to stop making me see him so I can move on and he did. Shawni we will always love you and miss you. You were just one year, and it 5 years now, but your smiles and how gentle and cute you were has not left our heart

ReplyDeleteI remember the last trip I and my dad took to London. I used to have excessive flow during my period but this time the flow was extra excessive cos my mum had just given me one tea like that from tianshi that she was told will help with the excessive bleeding. Long story short, the seat had become soaked with blood, was even scared to get up. My dad told me to go to the toilet and then he would try to clean up. He used those in flight blankets to help mop up the blood on the chair and then used his own blanket as a base on the chair so it doesn't get stained more.
ReplyDeleteI miss my dad so much each day. He went all out for all of us. Every visiting day, PTA meeting, school activity, graduation he always tried to be in attendance.

ReplyDeleteMy late dad.
ReplyDelete.every good memories of him bring tears to me.. can't type long about our memories together.. Dad may you continue to rest in the Bossom of our lord amen..
My Dad, my superhero Dad.....
ReplyDeleteThe first love of my life, as a child he deposited so much love in us that carried me all through teenhood to adulthood. I grew up searching for his definition of love and I'm glad I didn't settle for anything less. But then how could I?, I had felt love, touched love, breathed love, I knew what each letter of the word meant and all of this was because of my Dad.
I admit he wasn't the best of husbands, he had his flaws but he was unarguably the best Dad ever. He lived for his kids and in his eyes I was perfect. I had loads of self esteem and confidence because of him. And yes I was his fave, daddy's little girl I am. He was always came through for all our events despite his tight schedules, he paid our school fees before the session resumes, he shopped our clothes himself including our private wears. He stocked up the kitchen stores with food stuff in bags. He was loving but a disciplinarian, no nonsense Father he was. All my first experiences I had as a child was with him, we'd chat and talk about societal issues like adults. He'd never take a decision without a poll.
I could go on and on but today is not the day for memoirs. As we count down to 20 years since you left us, I hope I made you proud, I still cry, I still talk about you, I still remember the goodbye I said to you the day you took that ill-fated trip, I still remember waking up from my sleep in the evening crying and telling my sisters to pray that something had happened to you. I knew you came to say bye then and I know you're still with me now. I love you Dad, I still bear your name. Nothing can ever take your place!!!!

I just remembered one brother in my church back in 2013. We were close. He called me on a Sunday that week and we talked for long. He said when I come back to Abj he'd tell me something he had in mind.
ReplyDeleteOn Wednesday of that same week, my mom called to tell me he was found dead in his room. Apparently, he died on Monday and no one knew cause he lived alone. It was curious neighbors that were asking about him and realised his door was locked inside. Broke the door open and found him on the floor with his tongue out. Nobody knew what happened.
I cried for two weeks non stop. I almost died. RIP Sam.
