INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD




When I was single, young and free, sleeping was my hobby. I loved good sleep and one of my favourite scriptures in the Bible is “ he giveth his servant good rest". I can’t explain how much I enjoyed sleeping.

I remember an incident that happened in school. I slept off as usual only to wake up to my room mates crying. There was robbery going on in the area with a lot of sporadic shooting, they had tried to wake me up several times but I didn’t so they left me to my fate to start praying for safety. That’s how deep I sleep.

When I am in pain I fall asleep, that’s my body’s way of dealing with the pain. Even in labour I kept falling asleep. Now that I am a mom, I have not slept for five hours straight in such a long time.

I am seriously sleep deprived. I am seriously looking forward to the day I would sleep for at least eight hours. I would love for it to be a place away from my home. Nice location, nice view, breakfast in bed and a lot of TLC( Tender Loving Care) from a nice spa, good food and wine etc. I really want and need a small break from my daily routine.

GIST

I woke up this morning, opened my WhatsApp and the first status I viewed was that of my elder sister, it was a pre wedding photo of “our pastor friend’’.

Well this said pastor attended my church branch in port Harcourt though as an alter vessel ,he later got an employment to work with a bank in Lagos ,all through his stay in my church branch we didn’t talk to each other ,he only asked after me from my sister. he later got my number from my sister and we started talking, he resigned from the bank he was working because he was given a branch in Lagos there to head and he asked me to marry him but on the condition that I will leave everything concerning nursing and join the ministry full time to assist him, at first I thought he was joking because I know a lot of men that will give up everything just to have a nurse as a wife ... 

He went further to give me instances of pastors that there wives are doctors that still left it to support there husbands ,hmmm but this guy was damn serious at the end we couldn’t reach an agreement .he said I would rather choose career to doing Gods work...

So when I saw the pre wedding pictures this morning ,the first thing that came to my mind is did he also give this girl condition??? Well I don’t know but I think is the new trend now, men not wanting there spouse to pursue their career.  As for me I can’t give up mine for anybody ...
