ReplyDeleteWent to ikeja yesterday for a "quick" transaction. I rounded up my business by 4pm and headed back to the island. I have never experienced what I did yesterday. The traffic was hell because of the heavy rain. Water everywhere. As at 11.30pm there was still traffic on third mainland bridge. I finally got home by 12.45am. Even the hair on my head was tired🥺

DeleteIf your vehicle is in that flood and you havent started your engine. Don’t start it!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEven if the vehicle is submerged and the water goes down. It’s likely water has made its way into the engine. The first thing to do is open your engine air filter and check for moisture. If it’s moist or damp, DO NOT CRANK THAT VEHICLE!!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START IT. .
Allow the water go down, tow it away if possible. Get your mechanic to drain the engine oil immediately. Also drain the transmission fluid. Do not take the risk of trying to drive that vehicle.
Let the mechanic disconnect the fuel sending unit ( fuel pump), pull out the spark plugs one after the other and then crank the engine. You want to make sure water in each cylinder is blown out of the engine by the compression / exhaust stroke.
Once completed for all the cylinders. Connect the fuel pump ( easiest way is to remove the relay or the fuse ) and start the vehicle. It may idle rough. Leave it. Do not rev it. Allow that vehicle idle for some 30 minutes
Once it’s up to operating temperature, ( because you have replaced your transmission fluid ) engage the gears one after the other. From P to R wait 5 seconds R to N wait another 5 seconds N to D wait again. D to N again N to R and R to Park. After this. You can drive.

ReplyDeleteNigerians no dey learn. If truck that pqcks dirt come they won't take their dirt there because they don't want to pay. When rain start you will see all of them throwing dirts inside gutter. Drainage will now block they will be shouting government.

ReplyDeleteI left my office on the island yesterday at 12pm to Magodo CMD Road, spent 2 hours to get there, picked my kids at 2pm. we got home to Gbagada at 6pm. 6 hours in traffick. Yesterday's traffick was a nightmare.

ReplyDeleteYesterday was crazy. My sister-in-law left her office in VI around 3pm and got home (Canal Estate Okota) by 11:45pm. Buses collected N1000 and at a point N500 from Oshodi to Cele.

Some Lagosians as made it a duty to always pour their refuse in drainage systems. When flood start happening, they blame the govt. We are all the govt. The earlier we understand this, the better for us all. You cannot be doing foolish things like this and expect govt to tae the blame. When you pour refuse in govt, always remember that we will all bear the brunt and not the people in power.
