Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo Explains Why Some Christians Dont Have The Best Marriages .....

The Lead Pastor of the David's Christian Centre, Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo sat with media personality Toke Makinwa and they discussed relationships, marriage and spirituality

During the interview, Toke Makinwa asked Pastor Kingsley why some children of God don't have the best marriages, despite their commitment to God?

Here's Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo's response to the question ....

"That is a very beautiful question. People need to realize that everything written in the Bible is for us and not for God.
God is not going to reward you with a good husband or wife, just because you avoid fornication. Every good thing you do is for yourself.

The principles in the Bible are meant to protect you and improve your life. For instance if you buy an Apple phone, they will not send you a special gift for reading the manual and following it's instructions. The manual will help you use the phone better.

Some Christians may not be fornicating, hence, they expect God to reward them with good spouses. Sadly, they may not have spent time studying about marriage."

  1. It took me time before i realized that marriage is a carnal venture. It does not add any value to the heavenly race. It is a system built for this world for satisfaction of bodily desires. The unbelievers understand this, hence, they may have less struggles in marriage than the spirit filled brethren.
In the end, may our marital woes or bliss not cause us to fall behind in the Heavenly race.

You failed to factor "Christ and the church..." form Ephesians 5 and the fact that God said that
it is "not good for man to be alone..." or Jesus' teachings in Mark 10.
If you have a bad marriage, my empathy and of course prayers that you get it right. But what this
man is saying here is that you need to understand the manual on marriage; that's the Bible.

I am a Spirit filled believer and I have a very blissful marriage for over a dozen years, blessed with kids
and all of us are very much in the heavenly race; how? We read the manual and abide by it.
There is work involved to keep the family unit for Christ and that work is the responsibilities of the couple.

    4. @Olive Rose this is serious blasphemy you are talking about, God himself invented marriage, there was no better companion for man than a woman in the creation story! Christ gave us rules of how to live as husband and wife. I pray the holy spirit gives you understanding while reading the bible, the word of God not the word of man.

      You are utterly deceived!
Please do not enter marriage with these mindsets.
Else it will be a venture paved with vanities.

    7. Olive rose you are correct.
I also read in the forgotten books of the bible and to my understanding, marriage was something Adam suggested to God. God didn't force it on him or imposed it on him. Out of what God created man for, marriage definitely wasnt one of them... however he said if you do want to marry, do it right. Marriage isn't something that must happen in a Christian's life. It isn't a necessary part of the cycle. Hence why we have nuns and popes.

    8. Convince me, Biko say what you know! God was the one that instituted marriage. "He said it is not good for Adam to be alone" everything he created has both male and female. The ones that don't have , have both sex organ for procreation.

      Let me do as your name suggests;
Is Jesus Lord, God Almighty, Emmanuel; God with us?
Did he quote from any of those "forgotten books of the Bible?"
Don't you see that the deceiver of mankind, Satan is the one manufacturing
books and calling them "forgotten books"
The Bible the Word of God is complete. I had these conflicts earlier in my days
as a Christian and all I did was fast and pray and seek the one that died for me.
My second and third lines were the answers he gave me. And the evil one ran away.

    10. This comment you made is so inaccurate and I wonder from what angle you have made it. Marriage was created by God. The MAIN reason both God and satan are interested in marriage is one thing: the Children. Here is why God has created marriage:

“You cry out, “Why doesn’t the Lord accept my worship?” I’ll tell you why! Because the Lord witnessed the vows you and your wife made when you were young. But you have been unfaithful to her, though she remained your faithful partner, the wife of your marriage vows. Didn’t the Lord make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth.”
      ‭‭Malachi‬ ‭2:14-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬
      https://bible.com/bible/116/mal.2.14-15.NLT

God wants godly seeds from our marriage. And why is satan highly interested in marriage and the woman in particular?

Because the woman was the entity that was prophesied to give birth to the seed that would bruise his head:

“And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.””
      ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬
      https://bible.com/bible/116/gen.3.15.NLT

      ******
Marriage is spiritual. The devil attacks it to destroy it to the end that the seeds in it are corrupted and unworthy to be used by God. Which is why we mothers have WORK to do. We must lay hands on our children, teach them the word of God and prophesy into their lives.

Marrying the wrong person definitely makes life a lot harder but with prayers, God can make something out of what seems wrong.

  2. Nice talk about "the manual analogy"
But, it is obvious too that the "pastor" and his interviewer are seeing Christians as "those who go to Church"
    No.
    The foundation of the Lord's house stands sure with these inscriptions;
"the Lord knows those that are his and let they that name the name of the Lord depart from iniquity..." 2 Tim. 2:19.
So even if you know the manual's instructions about marriage very well
but you fornicate, you do not belong to Christ...he does not know you. Your name is not in the book of life.
    Repent.

  4. Interesting.

Nobody should be desperate for anything, not marriage and not children. That spirit of desperation always lead to some unsavory outcomes. If marriage is desired still take time to get to know the person. Still take time to see how they treat and speak about others. A well to do person who treats service staff poorly in a restaurant is not going to make a good spouse. Pray for guidance, wisdom and discernment in everything. Many times the desperation to get settled in marriage is what causes confusion and missed red flags.

    1. Nice point.
I have seen marriage where husband and wife are confused why they got married.
When it comes to marriage I focused my mind more on happily married ones.I love to see happy couples doing things together.

Just like the brother I am dating now. Very spitual, yet very cold...to call na wahala, to appreciate, na wahala, to joke or laugh na case. He is only good at giving when the need arises.
    Baba at being judgemental.

A good girl is almost giving room for other guys companion.

I hope I don't take out "God-fearing" from my list of suitors. Cos that's the only reason in am still here.

    1. Girl, I don't know how ppl do the walking on eggshells and having to recreate a whole new personality just to make marriage go through. I can be completely goofy and kooky at times and that's part of the package.

If this dude is like this now imagine what he will become if serious life challenges reach him. Whew.

    2. This is unsolicited but, perhaps you should re-evaluate your relationship if the only reason you’re there is because he’s god-fearing. If you’re not compatible in other ways, he might not be the right fit for you and that’ll make marriage to him so difficult

    3. The Bible said HE sitteth in heaven and laughs at the plans of man

      Proves 19:21

Forming spirituality is not the same as Spirit filled

Are you seeing the fruits of the Spirit in him?

      You don't need an actor
You need the truly sanctified, broken and Spirit filled
