Complete marriage on all side. White wedding is a white man's idea which is their own traditional marriage in Obodo Oyinbo.

  2. Even in the bible nothing like church wedding. Only traditional wedding.

  3. A traditional wedding is pretty okay but how many people can do without the white wedding where the real deal is? Show offs et al

  4. Very complete!!! I’m okay 👌🏾

  5. Very complete to the core. What the White wedding is to the whites is what traditional marriage is to Africans. Church wedding is just the imitation of the White man tradition.

As for me, once I'm ready, a close family and few friends traditional marriage will be just fine for us and that's all. I've always been a simple person. So there won't be need for a big celebration.

    3. Speak for yourself Mister, you can't impose your belief on the girl you want to marry if she believes in having a white wedding. Just read your post and analyse it. What kind of a man are you with this mindset. You must be very domineering. Gosh! I jump and pass your kind.

  6. Traditional marriage is a very complete one

  7. Very complete!

The pastor officiating the church wedding usually asks the guy if he has gone to settle the bride's family, else, whatever they are doing in the church will be put on hold.

  8. Complete

I will only advise people to do Court wedding for documentation.

  9. Over complete sef. Church wedding is just to bless the union at the altar. Most important blessing is that of parents.

    1. Where is the altar? Where God's people are. The traditional wedding also has people from the church including the pastor, so the union is blessed already. The church is us and not the building.

    2. Is it every traditional wedding they invite pastors or church people to? The church is us not the building yen yen yen. Yes it's okay if God is involved in the traditional wedding and not just palm wine carrying and paying of bride price

    2. Actually, its complete even for travels. All you need to do is register it as traditional marriage at the registry and it would be recognised as a marriage that your country recognises.

What about other nations/ countries that marry more than one wife?
You can only legally marry one wife at the register, the others would have to be done traditionally.

They are bound by the custom of your nation if its documented and can stand as proof.

    3. Anne, and what do you think court wedding meant?

    5. Anon 20:11, going to the registry to register it makes it incomplete.

Anon 20:16, did you read Stella question at all? Is court wedding (registry) same as traditional wedding? Before any church (those that don't have the marriage certificate to issue) conduct any wedding, they usually advice the intending couple to go to the registry to register their marriage.

    1. None; marriage in the girl's dad's house is complete.
Jesus never gave the church the mandate to wed. Again in the Old Covenant, no marriages took place in
the synagogues. It is a total usurpation of mandate by today's churches. Even Jesus and his disciples were
invitees to a wedding in Cana in Galilee...John 2.
Neither Jesus nor his Apostles every officiated a wedding.
That is the stark truth from the Scriptures.

  19. It's time we all know the difference between biblical theorem and logical theorem.

Even in the bible, there is no area where it is mentioned that a wedding is incomplete without going to church.

The first miracle God did was in a wedding ceremony where he turned water to wine. If you read carefully that passage,u will notice it's a wedding ceremony done in either a compound or outside the compound but not church.

The only thing accepted biblically is the both parents coming together to pray for both parties..

    Abeg,church things na just custom

Some women don't even know the importance of registering their marriage at the registry/church aside traveling purposes.

  22. I think I will recommend that traditional rulers starts issuing marriage certificate after traditional rites are being done. This should be looked into as to enable those who choose not to wed in the church have a certificate of marriage.

Again, if the church recognise traditional marriage, then there should be no sanction on members who choose to only marry traditionally. Just like the Catholic that will stop one from being a communicant until they wed.

    1. Customary courts issue certificates to those who did traditional marriage.

  23. Complete, that is the only kind of wedding I see in my Bible.

  24. It's complete but as a Christian and the fact that it was already an accepted norm for Christians in Nigeria, it would have felt incomplete for me.

Plus I was no about to let go of the whole drama of white wedding to please the core traditionalists who think it's okay to take some aspects of the white man tradition and then go against the one our own version of Christianity supports.

    ReplyDelete
  25. So if someone dissolves a traditional marriage (I believe return of bride price is divorce) and marries another person traditionally, or even in church is it a sin? Asking the Christians.
I also want other BVs to comment in favor of church marriage being the complete marriage for Christians. I just want to understand that point of view.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Very complete because that was our way before the white man way. Also when the bride prize has been paid and there are witness that is what a union is called. To come and witness that these two people have agreed to marry. Church wedding is if you like to wear white gown to show the English way. But the day bride price was paid that is the day you start counting.

  27. Complete complete complete. The other one is just copy copy that is worrying us
